To start with just wanted to let every one know my station is moving in to town next month I have been given a 5 by 7 room in the local satellite/computer shop rent free all they ask in return is free advertising which is the magic price for my station. What I am wondering is there any way to protect my signal from some one purposely setting out to interfere with my signal like turning them into the fcc or am I completely unprotected.

Congratulations on the new space - that's sounds wonderful.

There is a passage in Part 15 that explicitly states that part 15 devices cannot cause interference, and that they must accept interference, so, not much protection.

If a person was acting maliciously (setting up a jammer of some kind or something like that) the FCC would take a dim view of someone misusing radio spectrum, but other than that we generally need to be ready to change frequencies if we're getting interference. Several statiion operators have reported that very instance here in the forums, in fact.

One strategy I use is to not use my frequency in anything that isn't easily changed. I'm on 1500 right now, and I've been fortunate to not have any interference problems yet, but I only mention 1500 as a secondary aspect of my stations identity. That way I can change it if I need to. Example - I would never get 5000 business cards printed with 1500 (unless I was going to give them all out this week!) or get a permanent sign with 1500 or otherwise tie myself too cloely to that. My station SCWIS, and that's what I focus on, the freq is secondary - sure, you've got to tell folks where to tune the dial, but make sure the method you use to do that can be changed easily.
