Hey DJ,
That's a dead link. See my post on Community Radio. Is this for real or are you just jazzing us?
Link works for me this is for realy after we have enough peeps to sing it we will send on to the right people.
OK. The link worked for me this time. Sorry for my scepticism.
I did a little more sleuthing and found the problem. Your link on Community Radio had an extra trailing "." after the ".html". Without the period. the link works.
And after reading the petition web page, I posted the following on Community Radio:
OK, now that the link is straigntend out, lets get to the meat of this "petition".
Basically, it is worthless. It groups "free radio" with pirate radio and the wording is so attrocious that, even with a million signatures, it would be ignored.
In my mind, "free radio" means pre-ClearChannel independently operated local radio stations. If some sort of return to the good old days is to be achieved, it must be done within the political system (which currently stinks as we all know). I don't know how to do that, but badly directed and badly worded "petitions" like this will not help the cause.
The petiton was redone here is link the the new one with the same idea http://www.petitiononline.com/FRRadio/petition.html sign it.
Much better wording!
I still have a problem with using the term "pirate radio". "Free radio" is OK, but pirate radio engenders thoughts of grossly illegal operations, like the 4000 watt ERP FM pirate station that just got busted in Miami. The FCC must have some control over the airwaves or there would be chaos.
Free Radio Pirate Radio are the same think just different terms one sounds more illegal than the other.
The other petietion at:
http://www.petitiononline.com/rereg/petition.html
sounds more professional. It has over 2400 signatures.
I don't think Free Radio = Pirate Radio. Do a web search on pirate radio. Add up all the results and see if they equate to a VIABLE alternative, within the system, to our current "ClearChannel" state oif affairs.
This is the last time I will make a petition hope this one stays up and does
not get out of hand http://www.petitiononline.com/SFRadio/petition.html
I signed it #21 ๐ฏ
