Yesterday my wife and I stopped in at the local antique mall and coffee shoppe/restaurant/ice cream parlor to enjoy the beautiful day and take in the local scene. I enjoyed a Strabberry Italian Soda (hand made) and my wife had a Chai Tea Latte thing, and we shared a humongous fresh baked caramel/cinnamon roll. This is on main street, about half a block or so from our house and the transmitter, and about a block down the street from our station office on main.
They play our station inside. As you may know we play a very vintage country format. I was pleased to hear one man singing with "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" by the Sons of the Pioneers. A few minutes a shopper was caught whistling with Don Gibson singing "Oh Lonsome Me". I heard one shopper asking what station they were listening to that played such great music. All this in about 15 minutes.
It's now summer vacation season here. Thousands of people are in the area at their summer lake homes, car and truck loads of people are arriving with boats fishing in the lake we cover most of, and setting up at the campgrounds where we can be easily heard. Audience is up, spirits are high! The time of year that's good for Part 15 radio.
And the people are clearly digging the format.
Coming up on our second anniversary in a couple weeks, on the 24-7 with NO off air time!
Tim in Bovey
Tim, you make it sound like you are in low power heaven there in Bovey!
Of course I also get listener satisfaction with my station but that satisfaction is only from me, the only listener.
If you ever change format the whole town might come unglued.
