I just had to chuck a wonderful RDF.
When we moved recently, it was put
into the trunk of the car for safe keeping.
But I was wrong to put it there.
Something else in the car trunk slid into it
really hard. It was built like a tank - but
the analog tuning dial got crushed in the
middle. I tried to save it but it was no use.
This radio received the ICELAND broadcast
station on 189 kHz in my backyard in West Hartford, CT.
I also heard Morroco {sp?} on 171 kHz.
It is great fun to hear these obscure LWBC stations.
Not many people around here even know that they exist.
The LW section of that radio (tag sale - twenty bucks)
was more sensitive than my Sony ICF-2010.
It also heard AM, FM, CB, and the VHF HI band, which
included the 2 meter ham band.
What fun! And the radio had a very serious look to it.
If you brought it into a room, everybody stared at it for
a little while. It ran on 8 C batteries.
I can't remember the brand. It was a weird obscure name.
Please excuse any typos or grammar goofs.
Best wishes,
Brooce, WLP, Dogradio, and the Micro Stations.
