As a guy who has owned two Ramsey FM25B Transmitters, I have been thinking of ordering another one.

But why, Carl Blare, would you need three of them?

Because the first two were walked out the door by lovely ladies who wanted to try them, and never got around to returning them. As a perfect gentleman I am not taking them to small claims court.

Thing is, though, we have two C.Crane FM Transmitters, four Scosche FM Transmitters, and a Wholehouse 2.0 FM Transmitter. There's absolutely no need for another fm transmitter. Trouble is, my happiness depends on it, but I did consult with wiser calmer colleagues.

Neil Radio8Z advised that "wanting it" is good enough reason. Not needing it doesn't lead to fun.

Bruce Dog Radio Studio 2 suggested that we all need everything connected with part 15, as he has. Has done. Does do.

Logging in at ramseyelectronics.com with credit card in hand I saw something curious... the FM30B Transmitter. It has front-panel display complete with controls to alter and show all aspects of operation, i.e., frequency, output power, audio levels, what not, has a metal case, and is built upon the same circuit as the FM25B. Frills that I need.

That's why I placed an order for the FM30B. I need as much of what I don't need as possible.

Has anyone tuned in to this thread used a 30B?

Carl I saw on Ebay one of the 30B's starting at $100 for a bid.  If I had the money TODAY I'd get one NOW.  at least your better than me I have NO FM TRANSMITTER that I can use since my sainsonic causes interference and I really need another FM transmitter and I'm on low income.  Maybe I'll win one or when Tim does the test on the C. Crane and he tests at High Power I'll buy that as I'm sue it won't be quite as high as 500 mW but I hope for almost the same range minus the harmonics.  I'd had bought the whole house 3.0 if I knew at the time the SainSonic was really that bad.  But I didn't know even though my gut told me to buy it at $62 as a back up.  Wish I had listened to my gut.  It is there for a reason.

Thank you Johny for approving my abrupt, reckless senseless grab for a Ramsey 30B. Nothing else matters. Human appetite wants but isn't connected to much of a brain.

TheLegacy I am concerned for your situation. Some people go homeless and that's bad, parts of the world are starving and it's deplorable, but to live life without a proper FM transmitter has got to be as low and hopeless as it gets.

I am a pessimist so I can't say "something will come along" or "your luck will change." Fact is, things will only get worse.

Yet I do know this... your time will come.

Both did the same thing! Two separate occasions?

They must have been very good looking to get you to make the same mistake twice. Carl!....But if they looked like Petra Cubonova.....

Then I understand

Rich, a "proper" FM trasmitter is one you wouldn't mind having in the presence of curious visitors, one capable of meeting 15.239 and then some.

Mark, not exactly sarcastic... it's another "s" word.

Give up?

Sardonic.

Uh, hold on. "Sardonic" and "sarcastic" mean just about the same thing, and neither one is exactly right. Hmm.

Oh I know... JOCULAR!

Well Station8 found a 100B that only had .01 as a bid and it was that way for a few days.  May try and bid as SOON as I have some money.  I'm still trying like hell to get my money back for the SainSonic AX-05B because I've heard more bad news about it and more are complaining of the same thing I am with the transmitter.  So I think its safe to say that these folks know good and well their TX's are a POS.

NOTE: two things about this transmitter is different well three now.  1.  The low power is not 100mW like the FailSafe.  Its -48dbm (15 nanowatts).  This low power is not even enough to get outside your house.  The High power is still 500 mW although I have no way to measure its actual power output. Most of the power is wasted however in harmonics and spurs.  They never answer my E-Mails nor do I get a real person anymore when I call their toll free number.  I use to get a human on the line.  These guys are a real piece of work as far as not standing by their products.

Ok, I was just wondering because if you did get it off eBay I would say it could be a fake.

Oh sorry I missed you when you tried to chat with me in my station's chatroom.  IF you want to talk sometime the best way is to call the Rockline or I'll try and check into the room more often.  Its pretty much why I tell my listeners to text or call the Rockline.  I don't always sit in front of the computer to check out the chatroom.  But a text or a phone call I'll get for sue.

This fine Monday afternoon the UPS brought the FM 30B Transmitter Kit from Ramsey.

While unpacking I noticed three things right away.

On the box it states the frequency range is 89.9 to 108 MHz. Attention TheLegacy.

That difference already makes it different from the FM 25B, which the Ramsey website says is the same basic design used to build the FM 30B.

Another difference is the antenna. The FM 25B has a 12" bolt-in telescoping antenna, while the FM 30B has a 30" telescoping antenna with a BNC connector.

This third difference is unintended... there is no manual.

I got right through to a delightfully friendly woman who e-mailed me a manual right away.

I will wait before constructing this kit until I get some new solder tips.

Once it's in operation I'll compare its spectrum analyzed signal to the C.Crane FM2.

You're welcome to stay as long as you like.
