Hello all,
I was just wondering if any of yall had any suggestions as to what radio automation software might be the best for a beginner. I just purchased a Behringer XENYX X1832USB USB Mixer, a Behringer MDX2600 Composer Pro-XL Compressor Regular, inovonics 222, and a BBE Sonic Maximizer 382i, and a Hamilton Transmitter. I am ready to take my first stab at my first Part 15 station. Also, how is transmitting to the transmitter and streaming to say, a shoutcast server at the sametime work. Thanks in advance for helping me with my noob questions.
PS, I was looking at Zara Radio, but when I looked for tutorials on youtube they were almost all in Spanish lol 🙂
Thanks,
Mark
I have used the free version of ZaraRadio. There is an English manual for download. It may seem confusing at first, but you need to just install it on a PC and play around with the program until you get the hang of it. It really isn't that difficult to use and it will do quite a lot.

I use Virtual Audio Cable to simultaneously stream and output to the transmitter.
I use Zara to automate, output to a virtual cable, say 1. I then run the audio through some simple processing (compression, conversion to mono) using VSTHost, and output to another virtual cable, say 2. I route virtual cable 2 to the sound card audio output with a VAC utility, Audio Repeater. And I use Oddcast to generate a stream, taking as input virtual cable 2.
If you're using external audio processing, that, of course, will not be 'streamable' unless you physically connect the output of that processing into another computer to generate the stream (but you can still stream the unprocessed audio - processing helps you increase range on the RF side, but that's moot in streaming).
we use SAM on a server and then rebroadcast. Though I definitely recommend ZaraRadio as well.... http://www.zarastudio.es/en/
Just did some digging in the back of the forums and found a few free automation packages that are out there.
Mix Time Automation System
Rivendell Automation for Linux
