Even back in the mainframe days, the standard excuse was, "the computer was down." Personal responsibility has disappeared since then. Who excuses himself accuses himself.
Time was that a serious company had a friendly receptionist to greet visitors and phone callers.
Then came the automatic answering matrix "Push 1 for Spanish", "Push 2 for paying your bill", "Push 3 for a Menu of 42 other choices.

Then came The Website.
One of my favorite films is "Bucket List". In the story line, the characters examine what things in life are really important. In my humble opinion, we spend to much of our time ticked-off about how other people disappoint us; as though we should have some kind of expectation of control over other human beings. We major in the minor things in life. Interpretation: we must have way too much free time on our hands.
To obliquely infer that a lack of a speedy response is in some way personally denigrating, or mysterious, is foolishness. Lack of planning and preparation on your part does, not for me, an emergency make. It doesn't seem logical, or right, to criticize based on a personal decision to buy without realistically considering the time and effort required to finish the task.
Neither Phil nor Keith require a defense on how they conduct themselves. Past performance is the indicator these folks are quality developers and marketers of pretty good products. If you can find better people or products, go buy them. Otherwise, I enjoy listening to the drone of criticism from folks who have never developed or built a better product than what they are currently using.
Phil and Keith, keep up the good work.
A lot like the excuse given by the military when they could not locate Saddam Hussein....yet the news crews managed to capture plenty of footage of him walking down the street while a formation of F-22's were flying in the background.

You, Marshall Johnson, Sr., have not responded to my e-mail requesting your appearance on the Low Power Hour to talk about issues raised before you abandoned this website and never spoke to any of us again.
How dare you.
How dare you.

Yep..sure looks like the thread is staying on target! 😉

The F-22 was deployed in Iraq? Just askin'.
This thread is over because both Phil and Keith have been found.
Customer service is part of the package when I buy something. Developing a product is actually the easy part of the equation (I've done that in other fields). It's the support that is difficult, at least from my first hand experience.
I'm always interested in support stories after the sale, both positive and negative.
And yes, I always take that into consideration whenever I purchase a product.
This thread has been very interesting.
Yes, artisan, I have long loved to hear stories from "inside" a place of business. When I had batches of audio service clients I especially liked talking with the workers inside large corporations to hear the battle stories of back stabbing, one-upsmanship, stolen credit, misbahaved bosses with the female employee who needs the work, and lies and deceptions of many kinds.
Of course I was like the proverbial catholic confessor because I naturally couldn't reveal what I heard, but it was always interesting.
No reason I can't talk about it now....
Just kidding.
"The F-22 was deployed in Iraq?"
Heck I have no idea! Maybe they were Predator drones, or AWACS or gunships.
I just remember seeing on the mainstream tv news a hord of international reporters walking down a street filming Saddam and his guard also walking down the street right in the middle of all the "He has WMD because WE HAVE RECEIPTS" fiasco.
Rumsfeld should know...after all..it was HE who sold Saddam all those chemical weapons back in the 80's. There is a famous short video showing Rumsfeld meeting with Saddam..complete with a friendly hand shake and smile.

I'm actually a bit surprised that the kind of testing that is being encouraged here by SSTran wasn't done prior to the release of the product. I would have thought that some sort of controlled comparison between the 3000 and 5000, and their competitors would have been standard practice, particularly given the efficiency and range claims for the 5000.
Although the Hamilton and ProCaster are FCC certified, so any comparison with them by a non-FCC certified product always will be a little suspect.
And I guess the members of this Forum make great (and cheap) field testers.
ArtisanRasdio, I understand your comments if this whole drama is read at face value. But I develop alternate viewpoints by reading between the lines.
Phil obviously has total confidence in his new product and has made a specific list of features, which suggests he has done all the testing needed to prove the product.
But, he may believe that the skeptical Part 15ers might not take his word for it, and hopes they will prove it for themselves. Then there will be testimonials from AMT5000 users and owners.
We have seen how doubtful many of the bloggers are by the critical comments they've made.
I'm disappointed that there is such a push to find something wrong about Phil's motives or practices. It suggests that the critics are working for some competing interest.

There is a simple explanation. Even with tests done prior to the 5K unit's release, the testing would have been limited to the conditions and variables specific to the testing site or lab. Since the conditions and variables will be vast from one location to another in the field, only a starting point can be realized in the lab and then further testing and comparison data can be collected from the field..ie end users.
But I do agree that claims should be back up by hard data that goes well beyond the test bench. If it were me, I would build several antenna systems with different configurations in loading and grounding so that at the very least, more data will be there for customers to make a well informed purchase decision and not based on popularity or praise or bench results.

Even these units, though carry a FCC ID number, produce a wide range of results from one setup to another. Side by side to non-certified comparing can be accomplished if some base rules are followed..such as power input and coupling to the regular antenna used to broadcast with.
I'm looking forward to hearing results from those operating with an outdoor 3 meter setup.

Who would be the competing interest party mentioned?
What I see are well informed people simply looking for real world results or at the very least real world test data up front prior to making the purchase.
Let me ask you all something. If a car salesman just walked up to you and told you that you needed to buy the car he is selling without having a look at the car, test driving it, finding out if its been wrecked a billion times or drowned in the recent floods or if the oil had ever been changed, would you just cut a check because the salesman sold one a few years earlier and has made popularity for himself???
No of course not. Your going to research and find out all you can beforehand. Why is Phil's transmitter any different..because of popularity or prior units or statements of lab test results?
With the current data available on the 5K and the field testing done so far, I am convinced that the 5K unit does have improvement over the 3K and maintains that improved efficiency even into an odd-ball antenna system.
Naturally we can all assume that the 5K unit will also demonstrate this improvement into a decent 3 meter outdoor antenna. But assuming is not hard data. So I await a user out there who is operating into a 3 meter antenna system to post their findings to add to the data pool.
