Good point carl. For example if you live near a restaurant or library. Someone may park there and listen to your station if they nitice they can't pick it far.
Artisan's experience is probably as good as it gets for Part 15 radio... having a captive audience that has time to dial.
Ferry stops are excellent for this, and Friday Harbor Tiny Radio and End 80 Radio have their ferry ports staked out.
The New Jersey Bridge would be good anytime Governor Chris Christie blocks all the traffic.
One radio that is "portable", with performance near that of HI-FI tuners to get the most range from part 15 or Canadian "part 15" is the Geneva World Radio which also has HI-FI sound also. Picked one up a little while ago at half price at a audio store here in Toronto that was discontinuing them and clearing them out.
Has excellent selectivity also and when holding the radio right beside the antenna of my transmitter there is no imaging or interference anywhere else on band. Not so with "average" radios.
Check out Amazon which carries these.
