FWIW if you are interested in listening to a live remote using off the shelf equipment and freeware, WCFI-LP will be broadcasting our Mayor's State of The City address today, Feb. 24th at 12:25 EST.
The broadcast will start around 12:15 EST with comments by The Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the event.
It's always a exciting doing a live event cause you just never know what could happen.
I'm using a older dual core laptop fed by a Behringer Xenyx 1204 mixer. The podium mic is an AT wireless system. Our studio-transmitter-link is over TeamSpeak using a Verizon Jetpack WIFI hotspot.
Fingers are crossed...
Watching MRAM Bob so quickly apply for, build and operate his city's LPFM station, and cobbling together a bunch of free software and surplus gear to do sports and government remotes, what I see is an article in Radio World about how he does it.
Of course it would be authored by Bob himself, an article that might be presented to the boss at raise time. But consider the unanticipated possibility that you (Bob) might become your own boss, that is to say, rise a rank to a more powerful executive job.
Fortunately the boss is excited with the station and the results I have been able to provide. Perhaps when I retire from the City job in a couple years I can parley the radio station into a contract job.
The live remote seemed to go without a hitch at least after I discovered the "new" batteries I brought for the wireless where no good. Found that during the run through before going live. I had to rely on the "used" battery from the last show.
So, another live remote under my belt and a little more confidence in the equipment.
