I would imagine everyone here (just about) knows of Paul Harvey. He was only on the radio for about a hundred years. Whether or not you liked him, his style or his politics, you probably knew him.
Back when I was working on the air in North Dakota, In Williston actually... there was an announcer in Fargo who used to do a character he billed as Olaf Harvey - Paul Harvey's Norwegian cousin. He loosely syndicated a news program to other ND stations to use on the air. Instead of "Paul Harvey News" it was "Olaf Harvey Snoose" He'd record a new program once or twice a week and mail 5" reel to reel tapes to the stations that wanted to use it on the air. Well, I ran his Snoose on my morning show until he quit doing it -- he only did it for a couple years...
Kinda forgot about it until I was digging through a box of miscellany in the basement this morning and I happened upon one of his tapes -- just the one episode has apparently survived -- so naturally I thought I'd share it. If you remember Paul Harvey's news you'll note how Olaf follows his format and even his style a bit. Now, remember, this is 1984 so if you're not that old you won't get many of the references, but anyway here it is:

And I'm quite certain that Olaf wouldn't care if you went ahead and aired it if you felt the urge. But it's an amusing hunk of radio history from the midwest if nothing else ๐

Thanks Tim for sharing the Olaf story and his Snoose.
I really liked Paul Harvey, his delivery was something special. During his life I never judged him on his politics or religious bent, which I would probably do now.
Point of history...
Back in the when, Paul Harvey was a local newsman for KXOK 630 AM in St. Louis, owned by the now defunct Star Times Newspaper, and married a local school teacher who remained his wife the whole time.
I think I was in grade school.
