Everyday we take a look at sstran.com to watch for the first notice of the forthcoming AMT5000.
Nothing yet, but we imagine that things are very busy behind the scenes where packaging is being measured, manuals edited for accuracy and new web pages being artfully crafted.
OH! This is the weekend the AMT5000 is being presented at the Delaware Valley Historic Radio Club in Kutztown, PA!
I did the demo at the Kutztown DVHRC swap meet on Saturday at at 4 PM ( http://www.renningers.com/kutzradio.htm). I don't know how good my presentation was :-), but the AMT5000 performed flawlessly. The frequency was set to 1380 kHz. We had a multi CD changer feeding it, and received it on a vintage Harmon Kardon receiver feeding Hi-Fi speakers. We were able to eliminate initial receiver overloading by adjusting the position of the ferrite bar antenna on the back of the receiver.
The pavilions at Renningers Market have the AC wiring distributed along the overhead wood beams and nowhere to connect to ground. The AMT5000 produced a strong hum free signal over both pavilions and everywhere in the big parking lot in front. I had the 10 ft wire antenna running vertical up from the table to one overhead wood beam. I just dangled the ground wire down to the floor because there was nowhere to connect it. The outlet strip didn't have any ground screws and the actual outlet was about 30 ft away. Since the signal was strong and hum free, I just left it that way. It was neat to walk around the pavilion and hear it on a antique and vintage radios at the various vendor's tables.
Preparing for the demo consumed a fair amount of time over the last two weeks. Now I can devote my available time to the manual and web site.
Are there any photos of the transmitter available?
You mean this?

Tho't for sure someone would've taken a few pictures of your setup. Looking forward to the release.
I haven't gotten to the photo shoot for the web site.
Best I can do now is to point you to a slide show of the Kutztown meet: http://hagstar.phanfare.com/5119771#imageID=128105239
Select slide #55. Double click on the picture to enlarge it and put browser in full screen mode. That's me in the gray shirt. The transmitting AMT5000 is on the table closest to me. It's in the indoor tabletop enclosure which is about 3 inches wider than the AMT3000 enclosure. The white antenna wire can be seen going up vertically. To the right of it in the picture is another AMT5000 mounted in the gray outdoor enclosure for display. A distinguishing feature of the two AMT5000s in the photo is the large toroid coil wrapped in yellow tape. To the front in the picture is an AMT3000 board on display for comparison.
Directly in front of me on the table is a gray box with white front panel and two control knobs. This is an inexpensive off-the-shelf Consumer Audio to Pro Audio active converter from MCM electronics that can be used to drive a long twisted pair Pro Audio line to a remote transmitter installation, if you don't already have studio equipment with Pro Audio output.
In front of Peter Wieck (red shirt) is the Harmon Kardon tuner on top of the black speakers that were used for the demo. The CD changer is the black box directly behind the two AMT5000 transmitters.
Here is a link that should go right to Picture # 55

Very helpful ... nice to see Phil on the air 😉
If Kutztown is near Allentown, PA -
it's closer to where I live than I
thought.
Allentown is only 163 air miles from
my house in West Hartford, CT.
I almost could have gone to the
Kutztown radio meet. It would have
been great to see all the radio gear
and the AMT-5000.
I have two AMT-3000s. One is built
and one is unbuilt. I have a friend who
will build the second one for me when
he gets around to it.
Anyway, judging from all of the nice
pictures, it must have been a great time!
Best Wishes,
Bruce, MICRO1690/1700
I just checked sstran.com and the AMT5000 hasn't yet appeared, but don't you feel it? Like it's almost Here? Maybe we should check again just in case.
Hello,
It's possible that I'll be one of the first owner of the AMT5000 here in France, and maybe in Europe !
Great !
The line of future AMT5000 owners starts at the website of sstran.com and stretches way around the block and down the side street, just like a Black Friday line at Walmart.
Every day I take a look (at the site) and it's not time yet. But then I think maybe I might be one hour early, so I check again.
Poor PhilB, being pestered by anxious customers.
Does anybody know the price? I expect that it will be more than $100.
In his news announcement for the Kutztown Convention PhilB said it would be around $200.
Ermi Roos, you have been around part15.us as far back as I remember.... would you have fun being on the Low Power Hour? I don't know whether you have a radio station, but you certainly know the technology. If you wish to respond my e-mail is [email protected] All I would need is your phone number so I can call you at the appointed time.....
By the way, any one who cares to be a part 15 guest also let me know.
I love my sstran.. I really do.. if this improves on the design even a little bit, its worth it to me..
Can we pre-order? Just wondering ...
