This is super shortwave news submitted by The Dood in West Verginia

I hope they get somewhere with it.
I would love to have a regular shortwave
station to receive here. (One that would
be fun and informative.)
Bruce
We should all check for it and put
our reception details up on the board
here, just to see who hears it and who
doesn't.
Those of us with shortwave radios, anyway.
I'm going to check for it.
Bruce
I'll be listening. I'll assume since they are in Florida the lauch time is 7 pm Florida time as the post didn't specify UTC.
That's where to go. Who will hear
it first?
By the way, I've been listening to MRAM1500,
and it sounds real good!
Bruce
I have a post-it note to try to listen on my Tecsun. Hope I can hear it.
The last I listened for broadcasts on SW, I found screaming christian evangelists, right wing propaganda and, of course, zillions of non-english speaking stations. This pretty much resembles what you hear on regular old MW AM in the US.
I really hope 9395 is something different and better.
How much trouble would it be to take your current designs of either transmitter and make them usable on shortwave? These conversations hit me like a shovel in the back of my head.
I signed up at Global 24 for their newsletter, and have tried every day and evening to hear them at 9295 kHz, twice hearing voice way behind the noise, but no verified reception.
My antenna is 3-feet telescopic on the indoor receiver, so not very good.
Checked the Shoutcast stream from Global 24 and 2-out-of-3 times it was grossly distorted. If that persists I'll send them a note.
Have you heard them yet?
Something to listen to on SWBC that's
fun? Maybe!
I've been hearing them all weekend
and all day today here in Connecticut.
But I am probably in a really good place,
skip-wise. They are in Florida.
They sound good. Transmit audio is good.
I haven't heard enough programming to
be sure what they are doing, but they apparently
want to be informing and entertaining, and I'm
enjoying them so far.
Carl, my friend, you might want to throw a wire
out the window and hook it to your radio - if
you are able. Although - if your radio is not
good with overload or static charges to it's
front end - you won't want to do that, I
guess.
So far so good.
Neil, I know you have that military version
of an R390A - is that right? I would think you
wouldn't have any trouble hearing it. With your
kowledge of radio, I'm sure you can pick it up.
9395 kHz.
Bruce, (Hey! I'm actually a monitoring
station again.)
P.S. Just because I have to get out of here
I will mention that I heard some of the tests
in the 472 ti 479 kHz ham radio band. All cw.
Hams in the U.S. don't have it yet, but they
are operating under special Part 5 authority.
I heard WE2XGR/2 and a few other cw signals.
I heard a very brief transmission that had chirp.
I don't know who it was. This was on the past
Halloween weekend, 2014.
Also, I'm using a mag program again. I hope you
guys can read this OK.
Great Bruce, you are in a favorable signal area for Global 24, according not only to you, but also to a propogation map I saw somewhere on their website.
I will plan some way to receive them... I have several shortwave radios, the real question is where is the best place to connect an outside antenna. I will do a walk-around and try to figure it out.
The program schedule for Globa 24 is so amazing there is no way to be disappointed. Here is a sample...
http://about.global24radio.com/
Signal is strong, but a lot more
fading after dark, my local time.
They dropped carrier for a minute
or so, about 1720, L EST, my time
(2220 Z) for the rest of you guys.
They will be running relays of international
broadcasters and they will have talk programs.
There will be a ham radio program, and some
other programs about radio.
They are running classical music now, and I
heard a commercial for a place that sells
shorwave radios.
We'll see what happens.
Bruce
I'm hearing them in Northeast Ohio but very weak. I'm using General Electric model 7-2990A with a telescoping whip antenna. The radio is in my basement area.
Using my Realistic DX-302 on a long wire I am able to copy much better. Signal strength about S3 with fading.
Times heard generally evening around 6:00 pm Eastern Time.
And, Carl, thanks for the website info.
I saw the picture of their transmitter.
Oh my - I wouldn't want to service that thing!
Do any of you guys know about their transmit
power, antenna, and that sort of thing?
I think I heard them say that they change
their transmit direction at some point
during the day, but I didn't hear any
details.
Bruce
I remember seeing on their website that they have 100,000 Watts.
On this edition of Media Network Plus Keith Perron talks to the director of Global 24, Jeff Demers.
