I, at least, refuse to join that particular Board (if they would even let me in, which is doubtful). It's too tightly controlled by a small inner circle that appear to have a primary goal of promoting their own particular views, rather than what is good for Part 15 as a whole. I have no problem with moderating bad behaviour, but I have a big problem with controlling content.
I believe I've been pretty respectful and even-handed in my comments. Far more respectful than most posts from 'over there' that have anything to do with the subject. I hope this Forum doesn't decide to go down the path of controlling content. I'd rather have spirited (but respectful) debates and agree to disagree. Well, I just wouldn't participate here if that starts to occur.
A station slogan I use at KDX is "The Free Speech Zone," because my station is open to expression of thoughts, ideas and opinions. I also have a mantra:
"I am not Paul Revere come to inform the populace, but I want to hear what Paul Revere has to say."
On a personal level, I am an Artisan ally and stand in solidarity with his reasoned and well presented points of view.

I can't stand arrogance. I've seen it get in the way of obtaining valid results far too often throughout my professional career. And I just don't have the patience or inclination to wade through personal biases and other related crap to get to what may be nuggets of fact.

There are more than two part 15 websites, take for example thealpb.com, Radio Brandy, the Part 15 page at kdxradio.com, and several others.
Yet the "other" part 15 website has declared itself the "Premiere" part 15 site.
Because they tend to have grammer lapses we helpfully mention that the word "premiere" means "first."
Now then, this present website, part15(DOT)us, is the Original part 15 site.
Original also means "first."
Yet, so far as I can find, neither website has an "About" page revealing a date of origin.
But who gives a dump. We are two websites that concurrently exist.
this one predates the other site. actually the old community radio usa site now the radiodiscussions community radio sub forum predates both this site and the other site.
Your not missing much over there. I hung out there learning and asked a lot of questions and learned about audio processing hardware.
I decided to run a part 15 radio network providing a stream over the Internet providing that feed to part 15 transmitters located throughout my local area. Something I read about both here and there, but never really spoke much about as I was mostly concerned with my studio hardware where I had the control.
The part 15 transmitter owners were responsible for purchasing, hooking up to their own computer's and maintaining the transmitters. I was only providing the licensed music steam from my house via the Internet.
Things went well, we had a few participants join in with their own part 15 transmitters and we had gained a few listeners. Then suddenly sometime around March 2, on his site a post in the member's only area shows up accusing my station of participating in "Pirate Radio" activity. I continued to watch the thread without participating in it to see where this thread was headed and they continued to slander my station, posting images from the facebook page, the station's phone number and a description of my studio and then the name calling and insults were getting deep. Specially from Mr. Burns.
Being that much about the station was in the public eye both on social media and wikipedia in my real name and my being a registered member there at his site and Bill knowing much about me, there was no way that they did not know it was me. They of course tracked the publicized phone number and knew my real name and the facebook page also being in my real name, there is no way Bill and his buddy Mr. Burns did not know it was me. I continued to read the insulting remarks and name calling before I had finally had enough and posted back and attacked the man who had already attacked me first by calling him a "bully". Yes I called him a "bully" That got me banned from there, but not before Bill used every resource he could to try and prove I operated a pirate radio station and that I had no place there at his part 15 web site because I was a pirate!
Also, mind you our studio phone number was purely in the publics eye, both on line and on air and Bill knew this because he posted a picture showing the phone number on his site. Do you think anyone would have had the decency to call the number and ask for a tour? No. How did they locate my house? That's easy, it was made public both on air and on Facebook and Twitter! If anyone had sat outside of my studio and asked for permission to see the studio right on the spot, I would have welcomed the visit, we always invited guests to visit. Did they do that? No. They played fox hunt (Not hard to find we made the location public) sat outside our studios recording hours of our audio as evidence.
Mind you it is okay for he and his buddy to attack me, but I am not allowed to defend myself specially when I'm being called a pirate? Clearly, if there was any part 15 station violating the laws that was streaming my on line feed, I would have been more than willing to assist in the violator's apprehension, but not when a person insults me repeatedly beforehand and another defends that person.
I did nothing wrong and did not much appreciate being called a "pirate" I'm sorry, to me that is a highly criminally insulting title that no one is going to plant on me!
He is also great for not listening to a thing you say except to twist your words around making you look like a criminal and making himself look like he's better then anyone else.
With him, it's his way, or no way. I am not sorry he banned me and don't care, what angers me and a few others is the way he abuses his power and can't be reasoned with.
I have presented my truthful side of the events to other radio engineers and they all feel that he is a troll and is in the wrong, because I am not legally responsible for how another person operates their transmitter even if they are carrying my web stream, where I am not in control of the said transmitter that may have violated the part 15 rules.
To be truthful, I have no knowledge if any transmitters that were carrying my web stream that were operating in violation, because that proof was never presented to me personally with the exception of a few that I had asked, who he used as witnesses, and those witnesses of his did not confirm his statements. One such case being a person who replied to Bill's post over at radioinsight under a thread called "FM pirate in Norwich 87.9" under the Connecticut thread. Jayday who responded with "I heard them about a month ago on 395 from exit 79- exit 84. Not bad." told me the station he had heard was playing all jazz music (which my station never played) and that he wasn't quite sure if his radio was 87.9MHz or 98.7Mhz to be truthful. But Bill used that statement without even asking Jayday if it was okay to use his statement.
Not to mention, a large number of pictures were stolen off of my Facebook pages were hosted on his web site under the title of HUNTING A PIRATE without my permission, nor was I served any legal notice that those images were being confiscated for a federal crime investigation as Bill claimed they were. So this guy supposedly follows part 15 laws, but not anti-piracy laws involving the theft of and hosting of copyrighted images without the owners consent. He is not a federal agent and his site is not a federally owned site. So, it appears, one who is supposed to follow the laws, is one who also breaks the laws.
So now Mr part 15 threatens me with law suites for dragging his name and web site up, but its okay to falsely accuse me by name for a federal crime I had no participation in.
I'm sorry, but this guy is a large ego trouble maker who blows his ego up at other's expense!!

what you experienced with him is just the tip of the iceberg.
i know a few things about mr. ego that has been told to me by several different sources, who's stories match up. i have no direct evidence other than hearsay, so i just have been sitting on what i know, but rest assured if i know this info and several others know this info, there is likely someone out there who does in fact have damning evidence. if what i know about him were to come to light with evidence to back it up he would be kicked out of the SBE and fired from his job at the school he works for. unfortunately since i have no evidence all i can do is just sit on what i have heard and hope someone who does have evidence decides one day to bring down this narcisistic ego maniac and finally put him in his place. till then unfortunately we all must deal with his antics and ego blowups. one day though he will pick a fight with the wrong person and that will be the end of Jim Jones and his kool aid drinking disciples. i am a firm believer in karma and what comes around goes around, it's only a matter of time. so i will just continue to keep my mouth shut and watch how things unfold. he has been doing this for years and is about due for a good dose on karma payback from the universe.
i was booted from his little private club for sharing info releavent to the part 15 community as a whole. mr ego maniac took excpetion to that and he put it to a vote with the membership over there, so i resigned my account not to even give him the pleasure of banning me.
don't feel bad mr. bruce and rest easy knowing people like that always get theirs in the end and it is usually far worse than what they have dished out.
Such goings on! It almost sounds like corporate competition.
I'd like to know more about your station Mr. Bruce, it sounds like you have more ambition than most stations, with a network of transmitters in different areas. I've only thought about it conceptually, through private streams on the net, or sending the signal to other transmitters by wifi or lasers and things like that.
A problem I'd see is streams cutting out, which I sometimes have when listening to shows. You could have dead air on one of the satellite transmitters for a long time and never know.
What's your station programming like, what do you do for the community? I don't know if I've heard of your station before.

i would love nothing more than to see someone sue that bunch over there for organized cyberbullying and/or slander/libel, but unfortunately i read over your account of the facts and it is right on the border. you could have a case for legal action against them but it would be very hard and expensive to prove.
but it goes to further my point. they are going to do this to someone someday who has more money then they know what to do with and wants to make an example of that group over there and will haul that whole bunch into civil litigation and slap them all around using the civil court.
just sit tight mr. bruce, if you are truly legal (i will tell you howver 87.9 is not a legal 15.239 frequency), you having nothing to fear from that bunch over there. their day is fast approaching. bullies forget that there is always a bigger and richer bully around the corner and someday they will push around someone who is bigger than they are and that will be the end of that group over there.
