Hi folks - I thot y'all might be interested in this. Several companies involved with primarily indoor bright signage such as malls or arenas have formally requested a variance with the FCC to allow pico-power full HDTV transmission with a range of about 350' on ch. 21 and adjacent channels where WiFi isn't practical.

Pretty cool, huh? If that goes thru, I see no reason we couldn't also apply it to neighborhoods such as apartment/condo complexes, planned housing projects, school campuses, retirement villages, small town business districts, .... The list could go on and on.
This is a very exciting prospect for me!
Thanks to Ken for posting this interesting new development that sets the imagination in motion!
With all the spectrum shuffling going on this may prove to be a great time for Part 15.
What kind of TV pictures will you send?
Other than community activities, whatever imagination, inspiration, intellect, etc. can be come up with.
The earliest expectation when TV was only a rumor, was that finally the audience would be able to SEE their favorite radio programs. But when TV actually started, they went the extra mile and made the favorite radio programs into mini-movies (i.e., The Lone Ranger) and comedy shows into life-like settings with props that resembled rooms with furniture. Microphones and hand-held scripts were taken out of the picture.
No the wheel is not only being re-invented, it has turned one full rotation and we are back to radio programns being shown on camera, without phony sets.
Many on-line radio streams also have webcams and now Part 15 is reaching the day when low power broadcasting will become the total package, with small TV stations!
Ken is diffinitely a visionary with everything being done at Friday Harbor Tiny Radio and projects for the future.
