The ALPB meets this Saturday October 5th, 9pm Eastern Time.
The days are getting shorter here in Ohio, the nights cooler and less going on outside.
That means more time for indoor activities like The ALPB.
For some interesting conversation about License Free, Low Power Broadcasting and whatever else come up - join the group.
Meetings are round-table audio chat using TeamSpeak Client, a free app.
If you've been thinking about joining The ALPB, quit thinking and Do It!
Drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll fill you in on the details.
When I call it right I usually say, "But I'm not psychic."
Yet, amazingly, 3-minutes before seeing this Meeting Notice, it crossed my mind that we would be having an ALPB Meeting coming up Saturday night.
What are the odds?
The ALPB has become the central source of Part 15 "How To" information, and today we introduce a new one.
As you know, running a radio station requires announcing skills along with technical ability, so we at this time introduce....
"How To Announce," the do-it-yourself-teaching-guide-to-speaking-on-the-radio.
Lesson 1 : The "W"
The letter W is pronounced "double-you," although many people say "dubb-yah."
Say it correctly over and over for 1-minute, starting slow, then faster.
Do this once a day for a week, then we'll have Lesson 2.
Contact MRAM1500 for Teamspeak assistance.
Ignore the government shut down. The government is ignoring us.
The ALPB (Association for Low Power Broadcasters) is NOT shut down!
We will have our scheduled meeting Saturday, October 5, and we hope you are not shut down.
For instructions to join us on Team Speak by live audio or chat box, contact MRAM1500 at the address posted above.
What does ALPB do for Part 15 radio?
For one thing, we may have found an open frequency for many stations in dial congested places...
According to Glenn Hauser on his "World of Radio" weekly show, 1640kHz is now clear because WKSH in the Milwaukee area (licensed to Sussex, Wisconsin) has gone off the air.
Radio-locator.com is not updated to show this shut-down, and shows WKSH at 10kW day and 1kW night.
This morning I have the radio set on 1640 where I have always been able to hear the radio disney station, and I only hear the wonderful sound of unoccupied static.
Check it out. The ALPB may have found you a frequency!
Did a systems test to make sure Teamspeak is ready for tonight's Meeting of the ALPB, and was notified of an Update to Version 3.0.13.
I clicked UPDATE, and it went quickly and smoothly.
Of course you can always say NO and not do the update.
Everything seems good for this perhaps BIGGEST MEETING IN THE HISTORY OF ALPB!
