The working title is "Throwing Signal," but I have a feeling there might be a better title, and I'm open to suggestions.
No. 84 is actually a stage play as part of "The Unexplained Mystery Theater," actually a true-to-life replication of an actual Low Power Hour done so authentically that you could never tell it wasn't the real thing.
Courtesy of the Radio Dan Show we have an off the air moment from KSDO in San Diego, California, in which a talk show host has an on-microphone disagreement with his transmitter engineer.
Next, following MICRO1700's question as to whether KCJJ in Iowa City, Iowa, is a stereo AM station, we tap into Captain Steve and Tommy Lang's Morning Show without ever finding out.
Jerry Modjeski recalls the Montana Surf Sound of The Pylons.
We attend an ALPB Meeting back on December 21, 2013, the gathering two-weeks after the Seminar on News Production.
Finally and without permission we report on a transmitter competition at another website.
Been listening for about ten minutes now.. This is a unique one.. Are you sure this is the Low Power Hour?
Not complaining, it's just that it quite different.. Does Carl Blare still work there?
That Radio Station is Santa Cruz California's own KSCO 1080 AM.
I heard that show live ..
That guy Rich is a low brow fool LOL.
Best Low Power Hour Ever .... Well done Carl..
I am a proud owner of a wheat buster 🙂
Mr. Powers said... "it's just that it (is) quite different.. Does Carl Blare still work there?"
I try to make all the Low Power Hours "quite different" so they won't all be repeats of the same show, over and over, which I think is a condition of most radio and TV shows.
Every Dave Letterman Show is always the same as every other Dave Letterman Show.
Every Randy Rhodes Show is the same as every other Rush Limbaugh Program.
The only thing most performers have going for them is that they are very good at doing the one show.
Carl Blare isn't good at doing any one show, and strives to do many different shows to compensate for it.
I had been listening to that episode about 10 minutes so far when I posted.. You weren't there! I was just hearing two other guys talking to each other... Where's Carl??.. of course you did eventually show back up.
LPH#84 was a very interesting and entertaining episode. 🙂
I had been posting this morning for less than a minute when I made my first mistake for the day...
I typed: "Every Randy Rhodes Show is the same as every other Rush Limbaugh Program."
That statement cannot be defended and should have said... "Every Randy Rhodes Show is the same as every other Randy Rhodes Show."
While I was in mid-sentence I decided to change show hosts, but forgot to correct the first half of the sentence.
Once again, Carl, you have bent the
laws of the universe.
I have to say - I laughed pretty hard
several times. Especially during that
throwing contest. Then there was that
road worker's rock band. I'm going to
start laughing again.
The ALPB meeting was very enjoyable.
About KCJJ in Iowa on 1630: I used to
be able to hear it. BUT then somebody turned
on a TIS transmitter down the street. Yup -
right on 1630. I tried to null out the TIS station
with my loop so I could hear KCJJ.
I almost did it, but not quite.
Anyway, thanks again Carl. Again, you have
provided us with information, interesting audio,
and humor.. Who could ask for more?

About 8 months ago on Low Power Hour No. 84 we reported on Captain Steve's cancer, the owner and morning show partner with Tommy Lang on KCJJ in Iowa City.
Happy to report that this morning I am watching their U-Stream channel and Captain Steve is looking good and sounding fine.

That's really nice to know, Carl!
I've called and talked to people
at KCJJ a few times over the years.
I might call them and tell him that we
are glad he is feeling better.
It is frustrating to have a TIS station
just 3/4 mile down the street on 1630
taking up the channel with an old
tape loop repeating over and over with
obsolete information. I can't fault the
people who are running it - for reasons
that are out of the scope of this post.
But if the TIS was off I would be able
to get KCJJ here in Connecticut - I've
heard them over the (past) years.
Thanks again for the info.
Bruce
Besides the U-Stream link provided above, maybe KCJJ 1630 Iowa City might have an audio only stream.
Anyway, here's their website
