how about one of these for part 15.

make it 3 meters across (1.5m dia.)

Personally i would give this antenna if i wasn't strapped for cash as it is.
Since where i live antennas are allowed but digging and antenna height are restrictions.

I don't live in a HOA , management is just really hard nosed about antenna height and as far as digging goes? Only digging allowed is in our flower beds which are mostly gravel and clay. Barely suitable for growing plants.

As attractive as the isoloop is to look at, it's for 14mHz and above and is polarized horizontal.

How could it be made to work in the MW band?

i would assume a larger L/C value would lower the frequency. a larger variable cap in conjuction with variable loading coil

Carl, you can use a loop as well for vertical polarisation!

For MW use just make the loop circumference 3 meters and use a large (pF) variable condensator.

Thank you for explaining how a loop can be made resonant on the MW band.

Of course it would tend to be directional, beaming in two directions and null in the other two directions. But that might be desired in some situations.

In another thread on the subject of loops an engineer member posted:

"Small loop antennas don't perform nearly as well as short vertical antennas for TRANSMITTING, and I thought this was discussed previously. They do perform exceedingly well for receiving, due to their electrostatic noise rejection."

But we can keep talking about it.

And there you're right Carl. It is a great receiving antenne. But for transmitting a vertical do better, as wrote in an other thread.

i was looking into it as a groundless antenna for those who live in multi dwelling units where either outdoor antennas and grounds are not allowed or are not at ground level where placing a ground will exceed three meters.

True or false.

A loop antenna is a large coil.

It will be super interesting to get the result of your isoloop test in an apartment, as the loop is very interesting to be curious about.

The brain likes to compare things, and mine just spent a moment comparing a resonant loading coil-vertical antenna combination, to a 3-meter diameter loop antenna brought to resonance at a medium wave frequency.

Would it be reasonable to say that the loop antenna is a merger of loading coil with antenna, all-in-one, as it were?
