Do any of our Part 15 stations carry Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity?

Looks like they will be gone.

goof riddance to both. the world will be much better when them and savage are completely gone from the airwaves and they take their hate along with them.

Voltaire once said "I do not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."  Assuming that it's on topic, of course.

From reading and trying to understand the linked article it appears that Cumulus buys the syndication from Premier and Premier is pushing for a high price. If agreement is not reached does this mean that local stations can get the programming directly from Premier and continue to air the program or does their agreement with Cumulus prevent this?

Regardless of the varied opinions regarding the content of this programming, it has been said that this program "has saved AM radio" which may be an over simplification since only a small fraction of AM stations carry this progrem. If this statement is taken literally does this mean that if the program is dropped AM radio will be in jeopardy?

Personally, I don't think so if the stations can overcome the "herd mentality" of syndication and produce their own programming which people want to hear.

I don't believe these, in my continuing opinion over the whole course of their presence, bellowers "saved AM." In fact, I believe all the numbers and claims associated with their "success" is no more than smooth PR hype that has, to borrow Neil's term, played into a "herd mentality" in radio management.

The few, again referencing Neil, stations that carried these shouters were already prominent legacy stations whose remaining success was re-inforced by having major sports content and a semblence of local reporting, i.e., weather, traffic, one or two local people who appeared to be actually in the studio, by contrast with automated juke boxes and endless preaching elsewhere on the dial.

In his book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" Al Franken says on page 6, "Fans blindly and uncritically agree with everything that comes out of Limbaugh's mouth."

And on page 7, "The point of Rush's show is to punish you for actually knowing anything."

The only solution to any of it is Part 15 radio.

i must say, if you're carrying some statusquo mainstream news talk, it's of my opinion that you miss the point of low power broadcasting by about a mile or more.

There are a lot of points; we run radio stations that carry what we want because either what we want isn't available.  we run our stations because we believe we have something to say and no other outlet is accessable.  we run our stations out of vanity.  we run our stations because we want to hear rush in that one spot in our yard that we cant seem to receive static-free on our radios.  There are a LOT of reasons/points to it. Including "because there is nothing like our station in the area"..

Omlettes 🙂

There is a noncom in Connecticut, which

used to be 100 watts.  They had to downgrade.

They run 40 watts on 89.9 and 20 watts on 105.1.

A new guy (who I know) came in and made the

station into a local station just for the town.  The

townspeople are getting involved.  They do a

remote in the town every Saturday.  And - they

had a fund raiser and made quite a bit of money

for such a small operation.  For these guys,

local programming works.  And they run mono,

not stereo, which helps too.  In this particular

case, hard work and maybe some luck is making this

station an important part of the town.

As for Runt Limburger and Shard Calamity - well - every

thing has to start burning out eventually.

Bruce, DOGRADIO

Oh yeah, I run Part 15 radio because

I love it.

Bruce, I like your special names for Runt and Shard!

And I admire your friend with his two LPFMS, who obviously understands how to do radio!

Politics?

The word derives from "the practice of polite presentation," hence "politician," like "physician" or "precision." I'm not sure about that last one.

Of course we make fun of must of these "politicians" because they are not polite at all when you get to know them.

That helps me understand some

things.

I guess most of us have heard that

Runt did Part 15 broadcasting as

a boy - and his mother listened to

his radio shows.  I can describe

his set-up, but I don't know what it

is called.  That in of itself is very

cool.  He loved radio as a young person..

Unforunately, I can't think of anything

else to say.

I am on disability (have severe sleep apnea, schizoaffective disorder, diabetes) and rush, savage, hanity and the republicans have made it their personal mission to destroy social security, medicaid, and medicare and so have some democrats.

that is my whole problem with all of them. i couldn't care less about the rest of their rhetoric. but leave my benefits alone statisticly i will likely be dead before 50, i am 39 now. let me have what little of my life i have left and enjoy it as much as i physically and mentally can without having to worry that i'll be out on the street, or in jail and off my meds and my doctor care because of pure corporate greed.

that is where i am at with politics.
