KDX Worldround Radio Becomes Radio History

Global Program Service Closed.

At the end of day Friday June 30, 2017 the Global Streaming Service of KDX Worldround Radio ended its fulltime program service after 10-years 1-month of continuous operation.

During these years KDX operated three Shoutcast Servers providing wide-band monophonic in the standard MP3 format, an 8kb/s outlet for dial-up listeners and an AAC stereo stream as the format of the future.

An Icecast stereophonic MP3 server was recently put into service.

Further reports will follow about past and future actions at KDX.

KDX Silent on Saturday

Having ceased operation as a full service radio station Saturday, July 1st KDX Stream Servers were closed and only 2-hours of program went out over 1550 AM.

An Incomplete Success award was given to Carl by himself at the ALPB meeting, and on Sunday the new limited KDX ran programming from 9 AM to 8 PM in MP3 mono on an Icecast Server.

The KDX Website will be replaced a large part of the time by a Parking Page.

Day to day plans are being made up as we go along.

Sometimes our cars and "their cars,"

(owned by the family downstairs) do

not fit in the driveway.

"The town" (Hartford)

doesn"t like vehicles in

the street overnight.  Can

we use your parking garage?

sense.

The After Life

Following a "Day of Absence" Saturday July 1st, KDX Worldround Radio has been re-opened as a Museum and Experimental Station.

Curator Designate Carl Blare refused to serve, later changing his mind.

"The way things are right now," he told ALPB News, "KDX streams every few days, the website is on and off whatever mood we're in at the time."

Looking at the "About" page on the KDX Website Mr. Blare realized the "KDX Philosophy and History" sections would need amending but he refused to think about it.

If the KDX website is up - then you

are streaming.

Is that correct?

These KDX Inside Secrets are for Brooce Only:

The KDX Website is located on my home computer, which I turn off at times.

When the computer is OFF, a Parking Page is found in place of my website, giving some sketchy information.

When my computer is ON the KDX Radio dot Com website may still be directed to the Parking Page, but a SECRET URL will reach the KDX Radio Website, and that is:

[kdx.hopto.org]

If I get around to it the main URL is directed to the Website, but that does NOT mean KDX is Streaming!

Sometimes I turn off my stream PORT and have no stream.

Other times the KDX Stream Server is ON but I only run a Test Tone at 333 Hz, my favorite tone.

Programs are run when I am in the mood, and then are stopped the moment I lose interest.

This is the New Dis-Improved Experimental KDX.

It allows me to roam about town telling people I have my own Global Radio Station. It is a Status Symbol.

For no logical reason I enjoy trying to divide the number "1000" into 3-parts.

The closest possible whole numbers available are 3 X 333, which equals 999.

Most people use A=440 Hz on the piano as a standard reference tone, but I don't like it.

Audacity allowed me to generate a tone at 333 Hz, a non-standard frequency between the E and F keys just above Middle C.

Hearing 333 Hz coming from radios around the Internet Building makes life seem right, what more could I say?

I like running test tones through my transmitters into radios around the

house.

My Android Samsung Galaxy tablet has

a very nice software audio generator

that was free.  I haven't needed it yet - but

I eventually will.

It can dial up 333 Hz.

I"ll try that now.

Carl,

How will this effect The Low Power Hour, will it continue to syndicate?

Admittedly, I have been away for a couple of years and have quite a bit of reading ahead of me.

I'm also behind schedule (way behind) of going full time part 15 AM on 1610 AM. Full time as in 12 hour days, but was hoping to air Low Power Hour archives and any new shows that may follow.

Hopefully I can get a permanent outdoor installation of my talking house transmitter up and running by mid-August, and I would like to run archives of the LPH on a regular schedule.
Do I have your permission to do so?

I already have some of them downloaded from a couple of years back, and (cheated I guess) downloaded a few today. I enjoy the show very much.

I will not air the shows without your permission though.

Respectfully,

Jim Dee - in Kentucky

PS:

Will the archives and potential future LPH shows have a permanent home somewhere on the www?
