Well Carl nothing stopping you or anyone else from reporting their findings. I don't have a yard to test it over large ground plane.

The stories don't jive.

"KC8's testing confirms the unit prefers to operate without a ground radial system, and tunes good into antenna elements like that listed without the ground radial system."

The capacitance at the feedpoint of a base-driven monopole installed with its base just above the surface of the earth depends on its length, and its diameter.
The real value of the resistance present in the system connection to r-f ground is not a factor in this.
However Part 15 AM systems using a long, radiating path to a functional r-f ground (something buried in the earth, typically) will have increased capacitance due to the longer, radiating conductor(s) added to the 3-m whip.
This change may affect the ability to set the reactance of the loading coil as needed to achieve system resonance.

Carl...did you reference this entire thread's contents? Look a bit further back and you will see I clearly stated that kc8 done two sets of tests with two units. Note that now..."two sets of tests"!!
The first set of tests was done on a balcony.
The second set of tests were done on a tripod on the ground next to a pool at the center of the complex.
There is nothing conflicting here at all.

There is nothing conflicting here at all. He doesn't have his own property, but the pool side test on the tripod is the closest thing to a setup in a front or back yard...wouldn't you agree? Laying down ground wires on the surface, a tripod in the center with a short ground rod in the ground..transmitter mounted on top of the tripod approximately 1 meter high. Given kc8's situation, that pool side test is not only a close representative setup to a permanent yard setup on one's property, but is the ONLY test done to date that would come close to either type of setup...ie temporary or permanent.

Referencing the lyrics to the late and great Jim Croce tune...I can post the photographs taken by kc8 of BOTH test setups with the AMT5K..ie the balcony test and the ground level, poolside tripod test...given kc8's permission.
If permission is given to post those photographs, that should clear up the confusion...conflict or whatever is going on there.

Ok, just got the go ahead from kc8 to post these wonderful little photographs of his real world testing in two different situations..on an elevated balcony setup and ground level pool side tripod setup.
Here we go..have a seat.
Balcony test setup
AMT5K mounted inside it's custom outdoor box
AMT5K wide angle view of balcony setup
AMT5K closeup view-balcony setup
AMT5K close view of choke for the ground line running down the wall to a ground rod below.
AMT5K balcony ground line along wall to ground rod below the setup.
AMT5K balcony setup close view of ground line connecting to ground rod below balcony.
Pool side tripod setup
Wide view of tripod setup w/FS testing area
Second angle view of the pool side tripod setup
AMT5K pool side Field Strength measuring location close up
AMT5K pool side operational field strength measurement
AMT5K pool side setup power and ground connections
AMT5K pool side setup audio source
Hope that resolves the "conflict".

I would like to see the details of the outdoor test on a tripod by a pool. Where can I see that?
After I opened this post I found the photos of the outdoor setup, but there are no textual details of the field strength results at distances from the test site.
I don't quite get the value of photos when we're talking about actual performance results.
MORE ADDED LATER ---
In the balcony tests there is a beautiful view of the AMT5000 in its custom outdoor box. This is what I've been waiting for. Even though I may be a year away from having an outdoor antenna installed, I want that package and will be placing an order very soon.
HOWEVER, in the tripod test by the pool, I see no verifiable proof that an AMT5000 was even used.
ONE MORE THING....
What does testing the AMT5000 with a whip have to do with the Isotron antenna, which was the original subject of this post?
