i'm also curious why there seems to be scores of certification documents for the FM stuff, but an alarming lack of documentation on the am stuff.

is this something intentional?

could the fcc and/or manufacturers get a black eye over ground lead enforcement should these documents see the light of day?

Well it is odd indeed. The summary and detail do not show either for the TH V5 unit or its ATU.

well i sent the question a couple days ago and then again today. i don't hear from them in couple days i'll send it again. i eventually send it from each one of my email accounts one will get through and i will get an answer one way or the other even if it comes down to me calling them.

I can see them not answering. They way you asked the questions seems hostile, or attack like.

No one would want to respond to that, you're questioning their legality and their business.

well there is no real way to ask the questions without it coming across hostile.

It can be oh so easy to come across as hostile when trying to get to the core of facts.. But a little casual tact can make things a little smoother.

I think you asked the right questions, but maybe it could have been phrased differently..
But take your letter as written, and without changing a word,.. if you just started it out the way you ended it, then it probably wouldn't have felt so abrasive. ie:

i am looking to cover an entire apartment complex with the i.AM/ATU and
would like this documentation to show the fcc should i be visited. it would
help aid in defending my installation configuration.

i would like to know the following

1) how was unit certified?
2) how is it able to be certified with a long (up to 300ft) coax between
main unit and atu?
3) does this mean if the ATU is side mounted on a tower it cannot be cited
for an excessive ground lead because it was certified with the
interconnecting coax?
4) i tried to locate the certification details and documents on the FCC
website but they seem to be MIA. i would be interested in obtaining all
these documents from the FCC lab tests, pic's, measurements, schematics,
test condition details, etc.

We can blame all that on our current mainstream method of communicating with a fellow human being.

It is no longer personal, in person, face to face. It is all done now by text message, email, blogs and posts...none of which embeds human expression or mood or attitude or anything else. It is all mere text on a screen or sheet of paper.

In other words, basic communication between two people has no humanity in it because text on screens and pieces of paper are not human.

One opinion from me based on experience, but I believe that companies that allow their employees to "blow off" a customer inquiry by ignoring it, are not well managed.

A customer, to me, is anyone who shows interest in a product or service.

I have observed many individuals who sluff off their job because their sales behavior is not being closely monitored, or the manager is also a free-loader who skips part of the job for more idle time during working hours.

That Radio Systems is loosely managed is evident also by the uncoordinated way their website is strewn around, making it difficult to find carrier current products from their home page.

Another clue of no one at the switch is the promotional page listing the TR-6000 as a 30-Watt transmitter compared to the manual which shows the same transmitter as being 10-Watts. It's an error that has gone on for months and may never get fixed because the staff is too busy ignoring small matters.

The price of the equipment is nowhere to be found. I managed to get a price quote, and when I found it to be way to much the sales person recommended another product that was not even slightly similar to a carrier-current transmitter.

There is a picture of a big Radio Systems building and a large parking lot full of cars, so you'd think somebody would answer e-mail.

s#$t they're not even open from Dec. 24th to Jan 2nd. my suspicion is starting to lean toward them eventually going the way of lpb because of poor management.

Many businesses close for the week between holidays, especially if the personnel involved have kids out for the week on vacation ... which is most all of them. A number of small businesses on this island have closed down for the week. They're tired of the Christmas slaughterhouse commercialism, even tho' they take part in it (they must or they'll be out of business altogether), and need a break to be with family and friends.

I suggest a bit more patience ... if they aren't there, they can't answer your questions. I believe it's primarily an internet sales outfit, has few personnel. So wait until they get back, and run a softer, less demanding approach.

i've been through a lot of crap in my life it's why i have a short temper. last place i lived had to worry about crackheads kicking my door in early morning hours and the S/O would sell crack right from the department cruisers!!!!! don't bother to ask why the feds let this go on. it appears to be one of those area's in the country that is immune from federal law to a larger extent.

If they are exempt from law in your area you could sell commercial advertising time to the dealers and end up rich enough to move to a more peaceful place.
