Hi guys,
been lurking for a few days.
i'm tring to figure out what to do next have a rangemaster &
innovonics compressor. max distance is a must & would like to be legal. it will be roof mount .
what would be the 1. best & 2.quick & dirty ground?
the water pipe is the closest but must be over 20 ohms.
i am under the impression low impeadence for the ground is best
what if any radials would be needed (length, number)?
can they be on the mast?
thanks
rms
If you can put down an 8 foot ground rod, that would be the best approach. At my old location, I had my Rangemaster attached to a four foot ground rod and got decent coverage. I will put down an 8 foot ground when I put up my permanant installation here at the new location.

so the water pipe is grounded to the buildings
ground rods not good?
what kind of distance do you have?
thanks
I've tried grounding to a waterpipe and didn't have much success. But, you might have better luck than I did.
My Rangemaster was 10 feet up and I was getting coverage of about a mile radius. That's with grounding into very rocky soil with poor ground conductivity. I'm sure I coul do better with a better planned installation.
