And then there is this action that takes place in the end.
Free Radio Austin gets raided by the FCC
And
FEDS RAID KFAR NEWS FOOTAGE FCC & Federal marshalls raid pirate radio station
Imagine, they not only shut these stations down and take the transmitter, antenna, they take all of their equipment including the music library, and anything thing that plays it.
Bruce.
Imagine Bill raiding a station.
Since seeing those enforcement videos (thanks MrBruce) I am now able to tune the AM and FM dial and appreciate the fact that our government is working so diligently to preserve the poorest possible programming standards so to protect the lowest common dumb.
At the same time I do think it's an admirable achievement to be so proud of wearing sunglasses and chewing gum.
in just 72 hours!
Problem is....from 250uV/M@3 meters up to 100 watts you can't get a licence. This station was at 70 watts.....crazy!. In order to get a chance at a licence you have to up the power!?
So you know....when you are told you need a licence....you can't get one.
Probably the same here in Canada too?

It's even worse than that here Mark. The "window" is closed on LPFM (above 100 Watts) and there won't be another opportunity for years to come, when our children are in retirement.
To make things worse than that, the FM dial is already so crammed with religious repeaters, translators, boosters, AM stations on FM, college stations playing mellow jazz and commercial stations playing hits, there won't be any channels left if we somehow live until the next LPFM window.
The band actually could accomodate a few under 100 watters, but the FCC would rather leave the scraps unused.
You know, I was on the REC site looking around. I ran across an inference to "discussion" about part 15 power changes. What I also noticed during my reading thru the site a few days ago, was that a comment was made about a possible LPFM filing window before 2020, perhaps 2017 -2019. What makes me wonder if I was drinking too much now, is that I can't find any reference to that post on their site. I know I didn't imagine it, but why would it not be there now?
Craig
I like the first video where people chanted and protested. how far did KFAR actually go?
Thelegacy asks: "...how far did KFAR actually go?" Apparently K-FAR...or too FAR.
Actually, I see the real KFAR is an AM station in Fairbanks, Alaska on 660. They've been around since 1939. I'm wondering if they heard about the pirate station in Knoxville.
