Thought you'd find that amusing.

We'll see if it still works when it
dries out.

Tonight at 11 PM CDT I will put the AMT3000 through one wash cycle.

I think the ATU and other part 15 things should be sent through wash cycles.

This gives them the "hurricane readiness" test.

Sorry to learn of this. ARRGGGHHH! If it works after drying out then you can laugh.

This happened to my wife's iPod. Unfortunately, it did not recover. I learned that Apple puts a moisture indicator in some iPods so they can tell if this happened to units returned under warranty. Must be a fairly common occurrence.

Did you hear the one about the transmitter that went thru the washer?

It got agitated...

The Maxell P-13 is the transmitter
I use an as "interhouse relay...(?)"

I don't know what else to call it. But when
I listen to the computer (for instance
LPH # 44 again last night) that transmitter
enables me to listen around the house
on 88.3 MHz. This P-13 is made to
operate on only 4 FM band channels. 88.1,
88.3, 88.5, and 88.7 MHz. None of those
channels are really good here, because of
interference - 88.3 is just tolerable. There have
been mixed reports on the P-13. Mine works
pretty well and I like it. I hope it dries
up and works again.

LPH # 44 was excellent. I played that weird
"musical" 1550 kHz signal to my son, who is
a serious musician. He says it's in the key
of G. Well - actually just slightly below it.

I still have to say - I've NEVER EVER heard
ANYTHING like that signal. My son liked the
electronic sound, and he tried to play the
piano along with the "music." But since the
"music" is slightly below the key of G, he
couldn't really do it.

What the heck is it anyway?

dries out.)

Thanks for the good words. I put
an IPOD through the wash, too.

Yup, it got agitated!

The screen is dead, but it plays fine.

If you guys haven't checked out the
mystery signal on Carl's show, I
encourage you to do so. It's WEIRD.

I know that's another thread. So, I'll
just go over there and take a look.

After being heavily agitated
in the laundry, the trusty Maxell
P-13 functions.

We appreciate your concern.

Glad it works. I checked with a consulting electrical engineer, Alec Tron, and he says that obviously the circuitry was not critically damped and that it should produce a clean signal.

Groan.

Oh yes. Alec Tron. He was
responsible for that AM directional
array in Canada, up in the North
West Territory. 540 kHz, I think.

It was the one with 25 towers.

It was a big job. The phasing unit was
the size of a four bedroom house.

I understand he has back problems now.

The signal from the 25 tower array is so directional I can only pick it up in the hallway if the radio is facing toward the clothes tree.

Why can't they invent water tolerant electronics?

The world is over 2/3rds water. Why should electronic devices be so dainty and so delicate? What are they, dandies? Are they little babies?

I say we have manly equipment, built to deep sea tolerance. Radio transmitters should be beer cooled.

I'm going after my studio with a high pressure hose. If it can't take it, don't complain to daddy.

A friend of mine knew where some
of the local nulls were for an
AM directional station (6 towers.)

He would drive down a certain street,
and the signal on the car AM radio would go
from perfectly readable to fuzzy and
distorted. Then he would drive out of
the null and the signal would come back
clear. We were not that far from the
transmitter.

Watch out and be careful.. Fire hoses get
heavy when you hold them for a long time.

one time i accidentally washed my 16GB usb flash drive one time and after i let it dry out went to put it in the computer and surprisingly it worked just fine after being washed and wasn't taken out of my jeans when they were in the washer machine. the control is also my bedroom which has a bathroom, laundry room, and a makeshift kitchen in it too.
