In my travels to many radio stations, the one system I run into consistently uses the GNU/Linux OS. It is called, Rivendell ( http://www.rivendellaudio.org/), used by non-commercial and commercial stations world-wide. The web site will allow you access to a variety of hardware and software options, including a free download of Linux. This is a suggestion that hasn't been offered so far. It might be worth your time.
This automation program and Linux are known for stability and long playing periods without a hiccup.
