Suppose I want to keep a AMT 5000 transmitter inside, out of the weather, by connecting it through buried shielded steel conduit to the antenna outside? At first blush, it would seem this would violate the transmission line as being included in the total antenna length. But if it's buried...does it constitute transmission line in the sense the regulation intends? I don't see that it will radiate anything like the (effectively dipole) open transmission line situation, certainly not beyond a few feet.

What say?

The "transmission Line" question raised by Ken Norris coincides with a discussion on AM transmission lines which took place at the recent ALPB meeting.

My opinion is worth .35 cents, but I say "Do it."

The idea raised by Ken Norris of driving an antenna by a buried transmission line is something I'd like to try.

By the fact that a buried transmission line would not itself radiate it might escape the rules.

It would, I expect, depending on its length, lose some of the precious signal strength, when the transmitter in the house was set for 100mW input to the final.
