WDCX SAID: Uhhhhh....6 meter Amateur Radio Band 50 to 54 mHz.
I SAID: Yes I am aware of HAM radio being there in that piece of spectrum, they are also located between television channels 4 and 5.
What value right now is 46 MHz through 49 MHz? It used to be used for cordless phones and baby monitors or part 15 walkie talkies after they abandoned using Citizens Band Channel 14 for such.
When I scan that frequency span with my Realistic Pro-2006 scanner with an outdoor antenna, I get nothing but occasional birdies here and there.
I do not know what the rest of this country gets on those frequencies except maybe an occasional baby monitor of yester year, but most people today use a cell phone and for those who still use wired phone service, their cordless phones operate up in the 400 MHZ spectrum or 800 MHZ.

I've really enjoyed the above discussion
discussion and have learned quite a few things.
Getting back to the original thing about these
NOUOs to transitters "barely" over the 15.239
limit - - something is weird here. I think there
is MORE to both of these "FCC catches" and we
just don't know what the whole story is.
(????)
Very best wishes,

I have a hard time believing the accuracy and precision of the field strength meter used by the FCC really gives them 6 significant figures of field strength. Particularly with local adjacent channels so close to both sites.
Just for the sake of argument, if the FCC agents were unsure of where the transmitters were and they were a little closer than they thought, it could throw off their measurements. A 15.239 certified transmitter could produce 641uv/m at 1.2m, and 756uv/m at 1m. So if the field strength in the NOUO’s only came from one measurement point and the agents were wrong on the location of the transmitters by 61% to 67% there may have been no violation.
Either the two NOUO’s were issued for a violation, or there was a measurement error.
there is no amateur radio between tv channel 4 and 5
The space between VHF Channels 4 & 5, band 72 to 76 MHz, contains 2-way fixed and mobile communication, Aeronautical Radio Navigation and Radio Astronomy.
I have been a radio amateur since I was 16. I was shocked at this secret ham band relelation. 🙂
