I made an initial layout of my website and checked it on a couple browsers. There's very little content there at the moment, just the main page, a couple paragraphs and a 2 minute mp3 intro, but at the moment I'm just working on the overall look, and want to be sure it looks ok in most browsers and resolutions.
So when anyone has a spare moment, if you would take a quick look over, and let me know what you think, I'd appreciate it.
Don't hesitate giving any criticisms or suggestions you might have.

Like I said, right now it's just the main page that's active, the other pages will have the same background, but will be laid out in a more standard way.

Any criticisms or advice welcome

www.end80radio.com

Thanks

Using FireFox it all looks ok except for the right column "Top Stories" frame is chopping off the right side of the content a little.

Looks good otherwise. 🙂

Thanks RF.. Yeah, That's something I have to figure out what to do with, it's a google news ticker featuring the top stories and Tybee news stories, but it's prefab at 300 pixels wide. I've edited it to fit 250px, but the words don't wrap. Not sure what I'm going to do about that yet.
Thanks for looking.

By the way, Congrads on your new forum and best of luck on it. I'll be sure to visit frequently. I visit all the part15 forums, but really, to be honest, my primarily posting spot is right here.
Here it's plenty informative, as all the forums are, but part15.us is also the most active, most diverse, most friendly, and most fun.
Kind of like your favorite lounge.. It's just where you usually go, the others are a place to stop in and check out just to make sure your not missing anything!

I imagine starting a new forum isn't easy, - not the actual implication of it, but to get it moving with active ongoing posters... People tend to pick their spots and stick with it, Whether it be a church or a bar, or a topic specific forum.

But all that said, I've already joined it and will be sure to check it out often. Good luck

Thanks. It is going to be a forum with a very wide room for varying interests including radio. Radio is not my only profession/hobby. I have many hobbies as it were. My idea is to centralize the variety, not just my interests, but of those that would appeal to many and have it all in one place.

As to the word wrapping on your site in the right frame, although at the moment I cannot remember the exact html code, but there is a line of code that will let you basically force whatever is put into the frame size to wrap properly, no matter what the source is. I will attempt to find or remember that bit of code and pass it along.

Your lucky by the way. You are in an excellent area for your station's signal to propagate! All that water and moist ground makes for excellent ground conductivity!

Look forward to seeing more updates on your station build and participation at my new forum.

By the way folks, that forum is open to all. 🙂

The instant end80radio popped on the screen I was pleased. The color scheme is very welcoming and perfect on the eye, the lighthouse image is strong and has the hint of being a radio tower in a way. The weather thought I was in Savannah, Georgia, which is somewhat wrong since I'm in Missouri. I know there's a problem with the news scroll, but you'll get that fixed.

By the way, I had plenty of un-used white space on both the left and right sides of the screen. Not sure if you can use that space, but the rectangular aspect of the active portion of the website seems good.

Rich Powers knows how to design graphics, as I know from the blue button cartoon you made for me.

Yeah, I know it can be done, but there's better ways. Google was the last thing added to the page, but it's generally best to work things around a pre-structured feed; it's CCS, and Google provides access to it for developers to customize it most anyway you want, - but alternatively the weather widget has web ready sized widgets available, and I could make room for the google.

All things considered, I think I'll just reposition the page so the outside feeds arrive in their intended structure. Since there's no content in place yet it should be a breeze.

Yeah, it wasn't my intention when I put it there, but once in place it gave me the same impression. That's actually what influenced me to run the the full length of it into the page, - originally just the lighthouse top in the banner.

The weather thought I was in Savannah, Georgia

That's Tybee weather! 31328, but displays Savannah 17 miles away I sent inquiry to Weatherbug on it.

By the way, I had plenty of un-used white space on both the left and right sides of the screen

I see what you mean... I built this on my laptop which has a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768, and it filled the screen with some scroll. but when I booted up the old IBM and took a look it's a little square!

I should have caught that. Yeah, it needs work.

Sorry, no, I didn't yet checkout the MP3, because I'm at my studio monitoring out of the broadcast computer ... but I will when I get to my boat.

I'll be visiting my folks sometime in the next few months. I'd love to visit your island and check out your setup, which I assume will be running full tilt boogie by then.

That would be very cool Ken!

Carl, thanks for the compliment, but I kind of thought it sounded a little muffled.. ? I was planning to try re-encoding it and upping the bitrate. By the way, that's not me speaking, I wrote it, then a guy named Tommy House at radiodaddy.com did the dry read, then I added the music and effects with Audacity.

The other 30 second clip with a female voice (Mariek I think) also was a radiodaddy contribution, I wrote it that way, but it wasn't quite the delivery I was looking for. But no complaints for free stuff!

As the song by The Guess Who says ... No Time .

Ken I feel the same way, I have been so busy with family things that i find there is not enough time for my website or my station. Now with the earthquake in Japan i find out we lost 1.8 millionth of a sec because of the quake. How will i ever get that time back? lol
