Part 2 - The Inner Limits
Last week Ultanium supplied a Tracking Number so that my office staff, that's me, could play the real-world computer game of Tracking.
Since I was here wondering whether I should dress better for that 2-seconds greeting the delivery person, I decided to Track.
The giant Fedex Computer knew exactly what was happening. According to it, the package moved from Bryan, Texas to Hutchins, Texas, and from there started a serious "in-transit" status on it's way north to Missouri.
The Tracker estimates that delivery will occur on the 31st, which is tomorrow. That's a relief. I can think about something else today.
To be continued.
the nj economy has gone to hell. average rent for a 1 BR apt no utils included is 1300/mo and there isn't near enough jobs let alone good paying ones to go around. the ny people has moved out of NYC buying multimillion $$$ mansions on postage stamp size lots skyrocketing taxes and rents. my friend works 80+ hrs just to make his 20k/yr tax bill on his small piece of property, then don't even get me started on southern jersey with the tourism causing a spike in the cost of living.
your friend probably isnt doing it intentionally he is just busy trying to keep food in his mouth and a roof over his head. yeas things are that bad. nj is like a little california.
That is a fairly quick delivery estimate. Should we all break out the party hats and noise makers in preparation to the anticipated post of "It's here!!"? 🙂

It's bad everywhere and no relief in sight. As long as the puppets up in DC continue doing what they are doing under the direction of the elite, nothing is going to change.
They will keep smiling, waving and fooling the masses, and as usual..the masses buy it hook line and sinker.
The problem is not really in DC or with the elite..the problem is the passive public convinced everything is just fine and dandy...while crying over the piled up bills and foreclosure notices.
It's like that debt consolidation commercial with the guy on the riding mower in his front yard..smiling as if everything is sunshine and birds chirping...but mumbling to himself "I am in so much debt...".
It's one thing to recognize the fake reality we are all forced to live through, but its something different, and a big problem when the majority live in denial and pretend the gangster behind the podium is incapable of deception or ever will deceive.
Yet it happens daily, right in front of everyone.
Ironic...and quite disturbing.

Mitt has been complaining about what a spoiled brat Neut is. And Neut is airing a dirty laundry basket from Mitt. They each want the presidency as trophy toys they can dicker with from onboard a yacht turning the Nation into a play hobby.
Numbers are part of any game. Homeless numbers are something to check daily as the hobby unfolds. If the number goes down for some reason, it's time to make an announcement: "Homeless numbers are on the decline! Thanks for your vote." But if the numbers go up, it's time to check the evening's menu.
things are good in denver and the pay rate reflects it, as long you have a degree in medical or tech fields. at least until people flock here from out of state and fill up all the available positions.
These days it's even more necessary to be extra creative. And Part 15 radio can help with that in many ways.
Right now I do voicing for commercials on the local stations, right from my own studios. They send me copy, instructions and I do the rest, send them the mp3 and score 20 bucks per spot.
Today I made 40 bucks for about 10 minutes of work.
Unfortunately the cycle of doing voicing for commercials is low, as expected since even businesses are struggling just to keep their doors open and a staff on hand. A lot of local businesses are doing a lot less advertising so that is another damper in things.
My FM and CC AM stations run a few local advertisements here and there as well, and run a few spots for individuals selling items at their yard sales. The radio spots lets them announce ahead of the yard or garage sale what they have for sale.
It's no grand and a half a week that's for sure. But it is a little something that does help a great deal overall.

I love your side work, RFB, cutting spots for pro use. Two suggestions for building business:
1.) expand out of market. Using the telephone and internet find other radio stations all over the place who can benefit from having a voice service. This could really add up to a busy shop;
2.) Cut "spec spots" for the sales staff. That's what I did a few years ago. The sales manager would send me copy for clients they were trying to sign, I would cut "spec spots," and this helped the buyer envision how his commercial would sound, and it made sales grow for the station. Of course the station paid me for this service.
Also, ad agencies and corporations often do Power Point Programs for all kinds of reasons, and voice can be added to those. I've done plenty.
Oh, and TV stations need voice breaks cut everyday.
Carl, one thing I missed was - is the
CC transmitter you are getting rigged
to transmit on the AM band out of the
box, or do you need a crystal for it?
If it does operate on a channel, is it
one that you have blank in your area?
Sorry, but I have looked back through the
notes and can't find what you said about
this.
The economy in our house isn't so great, but
I did a lot of laughing tonight
anyway - for no apparent reason.
My two favorite episodes of the old "Outer
Limits" series from 1963 both starred the
wonderful Robert Culp. They are "The Architects
Of Fear," and "Demon With A Glass Hand." The revival
series produced from 1995 to 2002 is very good, too.

I think there is infrequent mention of frequency in this... the frequency I thought I would use was 970kHz, but that would require changing parts in the output filter and the low band (550 - 830) is what the transmitter is wired for.
I think Ultanium said he removed the crystal, but that's o.k. because it was for 580 which I cannot use because of a full power station at 590.
RFB taught me that a PLL Kit, which I have, can be used in place of a crystal and can be programmed with an on-board keyboard for any frequency.
I'm going to start at 570kHz, hoping the Cuban Time Station doesn't come in too strongly.
By the way, you said you laughed for no apparent reason, well, I often laugh for reasons apparent only to me.
RFB suggested a party to launch this CC station, so I ordered 20-cases of beer which we can enjoy while whipping the high voltage wires into the circuit breaker panel.
That's right. 580 was no good.
I have seen some PLL kits on the
net. I believe some of them can
go from below 10 kHz to up to 70 MHz
or so. I saw one that was a kit.
It was not recommended for inexperienced
kit builders.
Did you have to build yours, or did it come
assembled?
I have heard that Cuban time station: Radio Reloj,
on 570 and several other AM BCB channels.
Well, good luck! And it really would be nice if
we could all get together. It's too bad we are
all so far apart.
Best Wishes,

Here is the link to the PLL DataKit board:

Very simple kit. If you can assemble a transmitter kit, you can assemble this little gem. And do not let the description put the boogie man fear in you. The kit itself, on a skill level chart compared to something like an AMT 5K, this kit would require a level 2 or 3 while the AMT5K would need a level 4 or higher.
You have to build your own oscillator circuit, which there are example circuits within the manual/assembly instructions.
And there is room on the kit board to permanently install an oscillator circuit, or two each capable of operating on different bands and selected by the use of a jumper. The PLL kit is only limited by your imagination for its uses.

can you email me the manual?
kc8gpd hotmail
"can you email me the manual?"
Sure..once I get my scanner to stop being stubborn. I was trying to scan the TCU-30 coupler manual for Carl and upon beginning the scan of the manual..the scanner starts acting up and locking up. I got it all apart on my bench, looks like it was just a tad dusty inside and collected lint and dust balls all over the guide tracks for the scanning bar.
Good thing I am not an engineer! 😉
RFB
when you get the tcu 30 scanned would like a copy of that (and schematic) as well.
maybe i can home brew a coupler off of it.
thanks,
