I posted previously that I was being flooded with connection requests from a server over in France. It turned out that there were 3 sets of IP addresses, all from the same ISP (OVH) that were causing the problems.
From what I've read, OVH is a haven for spammers and warez type activity, particularly the European servers, and the ones located in France even more so. People reporting abuse to OVH in France never seem to get answered, and the activity doesn't stop, so I quickly discounted that avenue to rectify the situation.
I took down my streaming server, and replaced my router. This one has a fairly sophisticated firewall, and allows me to block ranges of IP addresses on the router side, before it gets to the computer and ties up resources. I still can't do much about the bandwidth, but I'm hoping that these guys give up after a while for easier pickings.
Interestingly enough, the replacement router is actually an older version of the original one I had - in the newer ones, they took out most of the firewall rule functionality.
And now, the radio station that plays The Best Music You've Probably Never Heard is back up on the Internet.
Let me know if you have problems (I don't think anyone should, but you never know).
I'm listening!
Mark
Sorry I had to kick you off for a few minutes there Mark, but I had to do a few things to my new router (such as putting a new admin password on it - a blank password just doesn't cut it these days).
It's now back up and shouldn't be down for the forseeable future. I'm also monitoring the IP activity closely. I saw your IP address there, and several others, one from London, another from Michigan.
It took some skill on my part to open a 2nd instance of Winamp to link to the Artisan stream, but I got it going!
I must take special care to avoid canceling my KDX stream taking place at the same time.
Quality...VERY GOOD!
Female artificial voice could lure me into having a drink after the show.
Is there a specific IP/port I can use with my Barix Box?
