probably much cheaper than copper wire and likely more effective as there is larger surface area in contact with ground.
Clever idea and just for fun I looked up prices for the hanging tape and #14 bare copper wire.
Tape is 12 to 14 cents/foot
Wire is 25 and up cents/foot
Copper futures are at $2.39/lb down from a year high of $3.25/lb. Funny how when you go to buy wire the price only reflects the high copper prices and not the lower.

I am sold Neil. No pun intended. Those pesky hams. This weekend to Lowes/HD will solve my ground radial experiment and.......I get contact to the wet soil. Lowes also has a ton of copper clad electrical stuff that an enterprising hobbiest can fashon into a solution.
