Pretty stupid behavior. Particularly on FM. This guy was basically a pirate, who knew what he was doing. Not someone who is attempting to operate within the Part 15 rules.
I'm surprised they didn't take away
his ham radio license.
He was also using a four letter U.S.
broadcast callsign. I see that the FCC
didn't say anything about that.

Yeah..they seem to not say much at all don't they...especially when it comes to being granted a license to violate.
How many of you rule thumpers would petition to have this ham's license revoked, and should it be?
I think so. For 3 reasons..(1), Using assigned call letters, (2), not allowing inspection of both his ham and FM stations, and (3), LYING.
Would make a great example about what happens when not following the rules.
And it would keep honor intact in having the character required to have that license.
I think there should be a new movie based on Ian Flemming's Bond films titled "Licensed to Violate".
Put side by side there are FAR more licensed violations happening right now than pirate activity or numbers of FM kits operating beyond 200 feet. (LOL)
Rule thumpers and number crunchers...always the first to preach yet the last to acknowledge reality.
Gone is the (for real this time) the "Mayberry" fake world everyone grew up watching on b/w tv's. It never existed to begin with. It's a real world out there..live it, love it, learn it!

You are right.
I do miss Barney Phyfe, though.
Best Wishes,

Barney was the real reason why I watched that show. Such a goof off for the role, but fit perfectly in the whole Mayberry story concept.
