Oh man, it's time for another meeting of The ALPB. The meeting will be this Saturday, June 20th at 9:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (0100 UTC Sunday.)
A funny thing happened on the way to the last meeting. Burning the candle at both ends, I fell asleep sitting at my computer. It wasn't quite time for the meeting and I figured I could finish editing some audio files. While waiting on the computer to finish processing a file, I fell asleep and didn't wake up for over 3 hours.
Needless to say waking somewhat disoriented I shut off the computer and went to bed.
Fortunately the ALPB Charter covers such situations and the meeting went on under the direction of Radio8Z. Thanks Neil!
Well, this time I'll be awake! I'm still working a lot though. I took a week of vacation to remodel the upstairs of the garage. Yep-gonna move all my stuff out there. Build my studio, have a workbench, desk for my Ham radio stuf. If it had running water and a bathroom the wife may never see me again and I think she may like that.
With all the banter about "Tiger Squads", the complications of safely running Part 15 FM, trying to find the best transmitter for your bucks; we should have some interesting discussions.
If you are not yet a member and would like to join in, simply read over The ALPB Charter Document found at The ALPB website. If you can live with it then download and install the TeamSpeak Client 3 app. A link to the TeamSpeak download site is also found at The ALPB website.
Once you have TeamSpeak ready to go let me know. I'll add you to the Official ALPB Roster and send you the TeamSpeak server address and password.
See you at the meeting. (now where did I put the NoDoze?)
Here in my clubhouse complete with leaking water I am listening to Low Power Hour No. 4, the guest is Bob Felmly MRAM 1500 in the days back before the ALPB.
Following the Saturday meeting I will post LPH#4 so everyone can hear what we said and how smart we were at the time.
Now let me guess, in this low power hour Bob was fully awakened!!!

Oh God that has happened to me a few times. Don't you hate that? I am gonna try to be there. Hope we can maybe get the petition going for more power on FM. We'll see if we can get all on the same page with this one. Its been fun last meeting and once my Wife gets her own computer will be easier again.
Mr TheLegacy, you are hereby required to attend the next meeting. Any backtalk from your wife should be dispelled by reminding her that the Bible says "a woman must submit to her husband." She doesn't realize we are not a religious organization.
More power on FM? We can talk about that.
Anyway, changing the subject, this week I've been listening to old Low Power Hours and tonight heard No. 5. It was good.
The Low Power Hour was started as a way to promote the use of low power radio by everyone in the Homeland so as to save power and take control of programming from the corporate bastards.
Since the start in 2010 we have gained 4 followers and that is encouraging.
Make way for the ALPB. It's the future and you know it.
I'll have to remind her about Tomorrow even though there will be a show we want to watch I think this meeting is very important to get this thing constructed since it does not look like 87.9 will ever be legal and for the few of us who have blank frequencies on FM I think we need to be able to get the most of it. I'm sure there will be some static about it, but I sure hope more will come on board with the category of Announcement Transmitter as this is what we're doing here @ The Legacy Announcing.
I do hope the ALPB will be a recognized group and taken seriously by others. If only LPFM stations could get some use by our organization I think we'd have more pull as well with the FCC.
TheLegacy you are thinking on the same frequency as I am...
I just spent 1-hour listening to 87.7 MHz on my FM radio, and nothing happened because it is blank and unused.
At the ALPB Meeting I am going to do like Rand Paul and pull a filibuster, making a public stand accusing the FCC of mismanagement of scarce public resources, citing 87.7, 87.9 on FM and 1710 kHz on AM as examples of government waste.
They can play their "Tiger Team" soldier games but maybe they need to be reminded that they are public trustees who should stick with frequency management in the public interest.
As I understand it the FCC is selling off the entire spectrum at auction to the highest bidders, just like that president and first lady who walked off with all the furniture and art work from the White House.
It's impossible to be a nice polite American if the whole country has been confiscated from under us.
For an actual filibuster I'll need more to say than this, so I may read the entire 1934 Communications Act through the night.
I guess we would have to wait till after repack but repack is a bad idea cecause of what we talked about before. Im gonna still try and see what we can do about 87.9 however as a micro broadcast frequency in areas without a channel 6.
Everybody at the ALPB Meetings has found a way of hooking their equipment to work with Teamspeak, and for us here at Worldround Radio the meeting is heard on a C.Crane Plus receiver tuned to 101.5 FM, the Teamspeak audio being sent from a Wholehouse 2.0 Transmitter mounted on the indoor bamboo tripod tower standing atop a wooden stool.
It was upsetting to read on a radio forum that a new translator (K268CT) went on 101.5 not very far away with a power of 250 Watts, so I turned off our transmitter and listened. The good news is that I don't hear the translator at all, so it must be an ideal distance away.
Let the Meeting proceed.
