The next regular TeamSpeak meeting of The ALPB will be this Saturday August 2nd at 9:00 pm EDT.
We have another new member, Pablo Santiago of Philadelphia, PA. He opeates a Part 15 FM station. Perhaps he will have TeamSpeak working by meeting time so that we might chat with him.
Carl Blare has brought up some interesting topics for discussion. Johny will be bringing the backup-girls from his Elvis show. The FCC will be taking notes to see what can be done to improve our license free operation. And who knows, perhaps a surprise appearance by Lefty!
"Hear" you all at the meeting.
I should be there.
I can't wait until Saturday night, this is too exciting to delay.
Sure, we'll still present everything at the Meeting, but here's your preview...
Fourth of all, NRSC.
Well, the initials "nrsc" simply stand for "National Radio Systems Committee", and among the standards posed by that committee is a PreEmphasis curve for AM radio intended to substantially improve audio quality on the typical AM radio.
As it happens the SSTran transmitters, AMT3000 and AMT5000, include a jumper choice to enable NRSC PreEmphasis Curve.
Without the NRSC option the audio response is "flat."
HOWEVER, when we consider the fact that typical AM radios are NOT flat, they roll-off at about 6 kHz, it is our finding that the NRSC jumper adds LIFE and PRESENCE to the AM experience.
Would you listen to your stereo with the treble turned down?
By invoking the NRSC Curve on my transmitters, the result is spectacular!
Outdoors, with all the "unwanted surround sound" of dogs, power tools, aviation and traffic, the audio from my Grundig JUMPS across the landscape and can be clearly heard.
In fact, the sound of the NRSC Curve is so pleasing that I'm tempted to increase our operating hours.
If this seems interesting, imagine how much more the ALPB brings.
Join it. Why not?
Would you listen to your stereo with the treble turned down?
Yes. My high end hearing range is poor due to hours working on a flight deck. So why would I waste all that electrical energy for no good reason?
August 2nd can be seen from the top of the 3-meter vertical, and that can mean only one of two things...
The Members of the ALPB will be arriving from around the world for the TeamSpeak gathering where the future of radio will be on the agenda.
If I weren't you, you should make arrangements ASAP to join the ALPB and contribute yours.
Could you bear the guilt of letting radio die simply because you weren't at the Meeting?
It's not hard to do because I did it.
