Welcome!!

I'm on the air and can't really test it, but it's obvious you're using a computer for audio programming. Most broadcast and audio software have digital compression somewhere in their effects, so I'm wondering: How are you using this java-based app?

I downloaded it, scanned it for viruses (OK) and ran it.

I tried all combinations of input and output devices and got an echo on every one. What did I do wrong?

Hi Ken,nice to meet You.
As I said I'm a newbie, and my first worries ( after check lpam tarnsmitter) was to AUDIO.My first problem was a limiter that can help me for not distort my broadcast.
Actually,I', online with audio a internet radio for testing.
Wow,I search inside part15.us and I see You had a Spitfire lpam transmitter! So I read your advice for grow my technical...( tanks)
My second step will be to install a radio automation software ( like sam)
and use two computer one used for studio and recording, another computer connect directly my program ( audio music etc) with lpam transmitter.
With my java program I can easy limiter output for not distorted audio.
( fortunately I have a am transmitter not digital so,it's a bit easy)
About a echo Phil B You need to regulate thresold and attack ( You try
low level) and if need down level compressor.
I had your same problem,so,you need to find the correct solution for your audio stuff.God luck!I'm here if You need info ( Oh my God,I'm a newbie and I give advice.... 😉 )

It would appear that one would need two sound cards to make this program work properly and work without the echo.

Myself, Im using Zararadio and a 3 band Audio Compressor / Limiter that sems to be doing quite well for 1067 The Vibe FM

Hello Limiter/Compressor meeting.

My setup uses the soundcard on the motherboard, which allows two distinct stereo channels, so I use one for broadcast and the other for recording and editing.

My radio automation is centered on Winamp with playlist and a Sam Encoder which drives Shoutcast Server software.

Compression and limiting as well as the equalization of the final output signal is done with the Winamp plugin by Hans Zutphen known as Stereotool, which is so awesome to me that I sent Mr. Zutphen his fair price for full registration.

I own some high end processing hardware but prefer doing everything within the computer, as to my judgment it can work well either way, and I appreciate being able to avoid all the extra wiring.

For an extra bonus the SStran 3000 AM transmitters have very neat compression/limiting inside, which adds yet another control of the audio signal.
