Never having heard of "Earth Hour," I chanced upon an article telling that tonight, in a few hours, is the 8th Earth Hour, in which major monuments and individual homes turn off their lights between 8:30 and 9:30 PM local time to show support for the earth.

Are you in?
I was suprised when I read the article at your link... wow...
Saturday will be the eighth annual event of Earth Hour??
Over 150 countries cut power to world monuments for the eighth year in a row??
Accompanied by millions of people participating for the eighth year in a row??...
And I've never heard of it before. Where have I been the last 7 years?
I ain't doin' it. I wouldn't help the cause anyway. I've been "Earth Friendly" since '89..
Seven minutes from now the lights here in the Internet Building will be darkened.
Earth is the best planet in my wide experience, and I hope it survives.
At 9:30 the lights will return and we'll forget it ever happened.
When 9:30 local finally came, I flipped them all back on. Forget that for a year.
During the dark earth hour I had one red light bulb in the center of the house, known as submarine lighting, because I heard that submarines use red lighting because it allows visibility onboard while being undetectable from without.
I happened across a second mention of Earth Hour, and I think it claimed that the hour was uniform around the world and not simply "local time." If so, I may have shut down at the wrong hour.
But, not wanting to become a news analyst, I discontinued any further interest in the matter, earth be hanged.
Yeah, really. If this is such a big deal why have I nor any members of my family who live in several states and big to small town, seen ANYONE or ANY place, monument or not, shut off their lights?
Earth DAY is April 22nd. I always wear my Earth Shoes to celebrate.
Those of you old enough remember Anne Kalso's Earth Shoes, right? With the negative heel? I still have ine from the 70's, and they STILL make them with modern styling! BE careful not to find the cheap Earth brand shoes at Wal-Mart, and get the real deal. Sandals, sneakers, mens, women's. Ha -- let loose your inner hippy!
