Sunday, June 7th will be the start of Year Seven for kdxradio.com, and operation at 1550kHz with an SSTran AMT3000.
To celebrate, we are drinking beer and planning LPH # 90 which should release on Sunday, unless we can no longer stand up.
Is your station keeping a history?
Someday Part 15 radio might be something that happened in "the old days."
Have your stories ready on Father's Day.
I'm coming up to 8 years this summer (with a few breaks interspersed in there). During that time I went from being a wide-eyed idealist (who was going to conquer the world with music, or at least, Bowen Island) to a hardened cynic, and now I just enjoy working with and learning about the music and other stuff that I broadcast (i.e., no expectations).
Low Power Hour No. 90 just got up-loaded to the world, titled "At 7," celebrating these years from the Internet Building in the center of north america. Entertainment by the Patio Parade Promenade Orchestra.
And for On Demand listening select KDX5 at

Part 15 radio isn't the only thing I think about, but the other things aren't as interesting, with the possible exception of lunch.
As I see it Part 15 is the most sophisticated hobby in the world, even above model railroading, with which it could be easily combined.
The ALPB (Association for Low Power Broadcasters) is the world's only Part 15 membership organization and is open to everyone in the world with an interest in all kinds of low power radio.
At recent meetings the ALPB made significant changes to its Charter (see it at thealpb.com), dropping the requirement that "members must agree to obey all government regulations pertaining to broadcasting."
We reasoned that the ALPB should not act as an enforcement organization and the Charter now leaves legality issues to the individual broadcaster.
In itself the ALPB does not promote or condone any kind of illegal operation, but we do not "inspect" members for compliance.
Another change removed the requirement that members maintain an "active" status by attending meetings on a regular basis. Under the new Charter attendance at TeamSpeak Meetings is not required, it's now fine to join without participating at meetings. Only thing is that only those present at meetings have a vote in any new decisions, although you can always send suggestions to the Chairman and get them brought up.
Even people on other websites who pursue Part 15 are welcome to join the ALPB. Hope to meet you.
Can I now run a long ground lead?
Actually the ALPB Mission Statement still relates to legal operation: "The ALPB mission is to promote quality radio broadcasting consistent with applicable regulations."
We just don't judge you for your evil ways.
Sorry, long ground leads at your own risk.
I might fire up my 5000kw transmiter now. That should get me around my small town now. No one will ever know.
John and Johny, You are free to do long ground lead and 5kW and the ALPB will enjoy hearing your story about what happened next.
