A little while back, someone (I believe it was RFB) talked about a 1750 meter transmitter that was available commercially (an AM transmitter that could be dropped lower by the manufacturer). The name APISys comes to mind, but I can't find anything in searches on the Part 15 site. Help!
north country radio. i believe apsisys made a 160 meter cquam
Yes it is North Country Radio which makes the AM88 which is able to do long wave at 1 Watt and AM medium wave at 100 mW.

RFB says it's good.
The AM88 is a tough little unit and works very well. There are many other options to choose from if the 88's price is out of your range.
Lots of schematics out there for LW transmitters. And most of them can be built using junk and salvaged parts.
Recycling is good!

"Assembled and tested, Mounted in case." - AM88 a certified unit then??
"Assembled and tested, Mounted in case. - AM88 a certified unit then??"
Don't know. Probably not. Then gain Ramsey sells their FM 25 B and FM 100 B units as both kits and pre assembled units...and those do not carry any certification.
I would not let that get in the way of anything or be of any concern. As long as you operate the thing within the rules then there should not be any worry whatsoever.
Besides...have any idea what it costs to have something certified..and that cost is passed on to the buyer in the price of a certified unit?
Rest assured that AMT5K would not be 240 bucks if it ran through the expense of getting a certification..kit or pre assembled.
Just adhere to the rules and your fine. As long as your setup measures in the limits when that field agent shows up with their FIM, what does it matter if its certified or not?
Have fun!

lo and behold a trip to ncr reveals a lw transmitter called the lf-90

Chiming in to tell you what's going on with the forthcoming DEEP VOICE project. This will be a designing, building and testing of an all new long wave radio transmitter under Part 15.217, 1-Watt 50-foot antenna, amplitude modulation.
Neil Radio 8Z has already simulated a final stage good for 1-Watt which will tack onto the buffer-amp he designed for the BIG TALKER shortwave project, a previous design project here on the site.
So far there has been no crystal oscillator designed for this new project, but I have grabbed an oscillator from someone else's shared long wave circuit, and tonight am drafting a starting version for DEEP VOICE.
There is already a web page for this new project
http://www.kdxradio.com/deepvoice.html
The startup circuit will be posted there very soon.
Stand by for further updates.

Look forward to seeing its development process!

THE LONG WAVE TRANSMITTER PROJECT DEEP VOICE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED WITH THIS VERSION 1 DRAWING

This looks really good!
I won't be able to build it for
a very long time.
I hope you or somebody else can put it
together and try it.
Even if it doesn't go very far it will
be a big accomplishment. I would be
satisfied to use it just for yardcasting
someday.
Thanks to you and Neil for getting it this
far.
Isn't RFB working on one too?
Best Wishes,
Bruce, DOGRADIO STUDIO 2
Yes, Bruce MICRO Dog 2, at last word RFB is also designing a lw xmitter but he is on vacation all this month so we don't know when something might happen.
Thanks Jim Dee for sparking this subject back to life.
The Deep Voice Long Wave Transmitter Project, linked earlier, needs to move forward.
For me the toughest problem will be setting up a 50-foot antenna.
Long wave 1750 meters is known as LW, but the type with the buried antennas is ELF (Extra Low Frequency), which the navy uses to communicate with underwater submarines. That's way down about 8 Hz, same as brain-wave frequencies. Exposure to it can cause you to forget something, but I forget what.
Try an inverted L. Besides on the sprawling Blare Mansion, you should have no problem with an erection.
An L-shaped erection?
