I've 2 Rangemasters now and had a third in the past. Never seen a label affixed.
Wow! Not even on the bottom? That would be a deal breaker for me. Even if in the manual how could I convince an agent that this is the product in the manual. Doesn't even have the transmitter make model printed anywhere! Just a generic case? No no! that wouldn't be for me. Can't believe it.
Are you talking about the label with the FCC ID number @richpowers? If so, the label on my Rangemaster AM1000E is on the inside of the top cover -
There is identifying information printed on the circuit board as well.

Most definitely. Before buying it, I had read that there was a label on it with the FCC ID, and I would have been pretty miffed had one not been there. There was also a yellow label on the outside, with the following wording -
"This device is intended to be installed and adjusted by a competent radio technician. No user adjustments inside. Potentially dangerous voltage inside. Only use the antenna recommended by the manufacturer (see FCC section 15.203). Improper adjustments or installation could result in a violation of federal law and policy and result in significant federal fines." http://www.am1000rangemaster.com
After a few years outside, that label was pretty beat up and starting to peel off, so I removed it. I have thought of fabricating a replacement, with the exact same wording, but I think the label on the inside, with the FCC ID, is the important one.
Although I don't think the FCC ID is printed on the circuit board, the website address is, as well as other printing, identifying it as a Rangemaster.
Talking of your Procaster @mark, acquiring one is on my list of Part 15 things to do. I'd like to compare it with my Rangemaster. I'd also just like to have one. I have learned the hard way that these small individual proprietor businesses tend to only be around for so long. Quite often, when they're gone, they're gone. Gerry and Keith might be in business for a long time to come, but who knows? At some point in the future, if they both decide to retire, or move on to other things, how are people going to purchase a new quality certified Part 15 AM transmitter?
I just came here to make one small edit to my last post but, as I feared, the time to edit had passed. I sure wish we were allowed a little longer. I'm not sure what the current limit is, but it feels like about 5 minutes. A bit longer would be very useful.
@rugster I didn't know there was a time limit...I guess as moderator I don't have the time limits at my end.
Yes I have posted about when the big 3 transmitter makers....Decade, Procaster and Rangemaster retire there will not be others to take their place. It's not a living and they do it knowing it is a very small market. Just getting certification is an expensive and time consuming undertaking.
I think there will be a heads up if that happens and we can get an extra when the time comes. There will always be Decade's around I think but the AM ones I don't know. How often do any of those show up even on Ebay? Well they do but not the part 15 ones. I know Gerry is around 70 years old, don't know about the others. No they won't be around forever. But neither will I.
I knew that someone had mentioned it recently @mark, but I didn't remember that it was you. If my comments sounded as if they were parroting yours, even in some of the wording, it's because I had been thinking the same thing, and your post really struck a chord with me. I wasn't purposely trying to plagiarize!
Good point about us not being around forever either. I'm 61, and although I hope/expect to be around for a good bit longer, who knows for how long of it I'll be actively interested in micro-broadcasting? I sure hope that when I get too old and creaky to want to do this, I'll be able to find someone who will want my gear.
I promise. The one I have is about 18 years old now about. It's the second one I bought from Keith. The other came from ebay over 4 years ago so dont know how old it is. But I'd always been curious that did not have stickers. Surely there must be others with the original Rangemasters who can concur.
