Good boat or near pool Radio. Well sorry I tried. Taking the cover off the radio will break the water tight seal too.
While I was waiting for the Sangean U1 Gas Meter Radio to arrive, Brooce MICRO 1690/1700 told me two things he'd heard about the model.
One of his radio friends told him it was "bassy" and "drifted."
Now that I've lived with it, the answers are "yes" and "yes."
The band-aid EQ fix I invented (described above) solves the bass problem, and I have an idea when to expect the drifting...
The radio will sit indoors in an air conditioned environment, then it is taken out to a shady spot in heat and humidity. After a number of minutes it drifts out of tune, so I re-tune it.
So far it has only drifted once per session. In the summer heat my outdoor sessions are short.
It is now 6-weeks and 4-days since I inserted 6X D-cells into the Sangean U1 radio that looks like a gas meter.
On a daily basis I lug what feels like 50-pounds outdoors to keep me entertained with fine programs from KDX Worldround Radio.
Yesterday I noticed the batteries were getting weak, so we can now calculate our battery needs based on about one-and-a-half-months per batch.
Despite the fact that the radio drifts and needs to be retuned, my marriage with it is happy and there are no regrets.
