Everyone is probably familiar with WBCQ The Planet, a shortwave broadcasting station from Monticello, Maine, U.S.A.
Some part15_us members have been heard on WBCQ by purchasing reasonably priced airtime.
For years KDX Worldround Radio, my own station, has carried the "Allan Weiner Worldwide Show" produced by the owner of WBCQ, with his permission... and this morning I went looking for his most recent show which I thought would provide good Sunday listening, but Allan hasn't posted a new show since March.
Maybe it's because he's otherwise occupied, based on the amazing news announcement found on his website.
WBCQ Massive Expansion in the Works
With so many international broadcasters shutting down their shortwave transmitters, I hope there will be enough interest to keep stations like WBCQ on the air. There are still plenty of people who listen to shortwave radio as a hobby and it's nice to give them something more entertaining to tune in than just religious preaching, conspiracy theories, and government broadcasts from Cuba and China.
