Singeing the Fringes
To "singe" means to burn the edges. Just a help so everyone will know.
Several times a week I stay in touch with programmer Maria Gilardin in her self-built straw-bale house solar-powered on a mountain in Northern California, where she produces the weekly TUC Radio half-hour program on topics of major world importance.
Today's reply stopped me for a sobbing spell, crying, weeping, tearing up, when she reported that the nearest forest fire glowed visibly below her vantage point and was aimed the other direction due to prevailing winds, but endangering native American Indian encampments.
Maria checked in at the nearest evacuation center to be of assistance.
Meanwhile we have over 3000 hit songs in our playlists and run the risk of being declared "political" if we talk about the real world.
As global warming continues to progress, there is more severe weather, and fallout from that weather (such as what Carl describes, so tragic).
Just before I read Carl's post, I came across this: https://www.sciencealert.com/humans-have-shifted-the-earth-s-seasons-for-the-first-time-with-climate-change
I've never understood those who criticize the scientists who warn about climate change, as if these scientists take some pleasure in their pronouncements. As the author of this piece says, this is not the kind of stuff that you want to be proved right about.
Fire Vortex
Quibbling over terms we find that a "fire tornado" is only a "fire vortex".
Does that mean "less fire?"
