The HAM lady gave the matter a lot of thought. I can't disagree with anything she said.

Shows that it works in a Tesla and others and it could easily be shielded as they did with spark plugs and the alternators/generators to eliminate the AM interference in gasoline cars.

Maybe the FCC should fine EV makers for generating the interference they claim to have.

According to Radioworld, the U.S. Senate did not pass the AM in Every Vehicle Act.  One more step towards the elimination of AM radios integrated into cars.  People always have the option of using separate radios, like in the video.  You can link these radios up to bluetooth with a transmitter/adapter that plugs into the radio's headphone jack.

@artisan-radio Problem is that the car's metal body affects the AM reception and it is not near as good as you get outside. And you don't have the quality of reception you always got with car radios. Also on a hot day in the summer the heat will destroy it left in there.
This will put the lid on the coffin. And no one cares enough. AM has to be preserved and it's the era I grew up in. I am considering moving my station back to AM with the Procaster as it is up to us to keep it alive. I play everything that AM did in it's heyday, like Artisan does also, This is where it belongs. My slogan was a good one, "making AM radio great again" I will tell my listeners but I don't care anymore. It's for me.
I will do a walk around demo like before when the switch is done.

@mark There's no doubt that the average person won't go through the contortions necessary to make AM work in a car.  You definitely need an outside antenna, but if you use a car as a fashion statement (as lots do), it takes away from the sleek lines.  Most cars today have replaced the steel whip common in my day with those dinky little jobs on the roof, which really don't work all that well.

I agree that AM, particularly for your and my programming, is the way to go.  Problem with me is that AM doesn't work all that well in concrete jungles, particularly at Part 15 levels.  FM is really only the practical way to go, particularly in Canada with the increased field strength allowed.  If I were in a house with some land, as I hope to be one day, then I'd go back to AM as well.
