When is Christmas Over?

I was just listening to the banter by the morning team on a local radio station as they spent an hour sharing personal stories about how they each spent Christmas and when they considered Christmas to be over. It reminded me of the time when I proposed bringing back the 12-days of Christmas, which extends the holiday well into January. If I were a retailer it might be good adding more shopping days, but the books have to be closed by January 1, so it could get complicated. For radio stations Christmas ends when the holiday playlist stops. And this is the year I'll finally look up 'turtle doves' to learn whether there is a real bird species of that name. There's enough small talk to fill an entire college course.
