With all the discussion (and controversy) about AI, I thought I'd go looking for something that would estimate intelligence, or IQ (although they're not always the same).

I found this, and it's a fun thing to play around with.  As you might expect, it's pretty good at mapping the extremes.  For example, text from a paper from Stephen Hawking came in at over 150 (genius level).  Posts on Facebook from anti-vaxxers spouting conspiracy theories mapped to between 75 & 89 (i.e., according to one scale, between borderline mental disability and the lowest rung for average).

I did a few for Trump's Truth Social posts and I was a bit surprised that he came in as average, from 88 to 111 (the recent Bruce Springsteen rant was the lowest, and there is the link to music).

Posts here on this Forum ranged from average, 85+ to above average or bright (120+).  I couldn't find any genius level ones, but then, I didn't search all that hard.

Unfortunately, I'm still banned from Hobbybroadcaster, so I couldn't check any of theirs.  But my guess is that they would be in the same range, particularly some of their Forum members, who appear to be able to write decently.

How much weight you attach to this is up to you.  For me, not all that much, except, as I stated previously, for the extremes.  And you really don't need AI for that, as they tend to be self evident.

I pasted my KENC story and it said my IQ was 122, then I posted a drive-in AM sound history post and it rated that 122 too... G

I put different things I wrote about the frequency change and transmitters. It said my IQ was 110-120.

Have you tried pasting in an AI summary? Like you said cool to play with, and that's because it's a toy. 🤪

I'm sure I could find post of mine that would give totally different score!

I pasted the text from the front page here (just the second half) and it said

Estimated IQ: 146 (exceptionally gifted)

And just so it's not seen that I'm playing favorites.

I had the site evaluate the transcript of the start of an interview between a CTV news correspondent and Mark Carney, Canada's newly elected Prime Minister.  The subject was the makeup of his newly formed cabinet.

You have to be careful judging the results here, as the evaluation was not on a (well) thought out and prepared document.  Some speak better than writing and vice versa.  It should also be noted that Carney is a banker and economist, not a politician (at least until now), and he's not known for his rousing verbal expertise.  On the other hand, you never know how much knowledge he had beforehand of the questions, and therefore had time to prepare (making it somewhat akin to writing).

The result - 130, or well above average (the estimator called it genius, but on most scales that level is 140+).

As I stated earlier, all of this has to be taken with a hefty grain of salt.
