Woke up this morning with about 3 inches of snow on my boat. My front hatch was frozen shut and I had to slam my back against it a few time to get it open.. I went out and very carefully made my way across the very slick sheet of ice covering everything.. desperately clinging to the boom for support because didnt want to slip and fall off... had to get to my solar panels to brush them off. - No dice, it was frozen solid..
Been here 45 years and this is the second time I've seen snow on the ground. The last time was 35 or 40 years ago.
Oh, forgot to mention, I closed the hatch back when I went out and it took me... well, it was only maybe three minutes, but felt like half hour trying to get back in because the hatch froze back down and I couldnt get a grip on it. finally got back in the other by laying down and pounding it open with my feet.. then played hell getting it shut again.
It was bitter bitter cold this morning, stil is,
I envy you for having a boat @richpowers. All that saltwater should make a great ground plane. Heck, if that was my boat, it would have a Part 15 transmitter on it, broadcasting 24/7!
@rugster I'm heading that way Dave, bought a mini pc for the purpose but right now having major battery problems which of course puts the station on hold until I have reliable power again.
Currently getting by using portable power station and a little lithium power brick to keep on the lights and my phone charged.
