AT&T opens the door on its copper network shutdown
As AT&T pursues regulatory approvals to shutter its aging copper-based DSL network across the country,... arguing that demand for and use of it has mostly collapsed. ..AT&T argued that there are plenty of other options for voice services offered over cable, fiber, fixed wireless, mobile wireless and satellite technologies.

Copper phone lines are like analog AM radio in that they are in their last days.
I liked them both and hate to see them go.
Or, perhaps like vinyl records they will experience a revival.
And let's not forget reel-to-reel tape.
