This morning we became aware that a new season of the Deutsche Welle Festival Concerts is available for KDX Worldround Radio. We have carried this series for over 8-years bringing Germany's top orchestras and concert venues to the radio public here in the land of "America 1st" (embarrassment).
But where am I supposed to put this 2-hour program over the next 26-weeks? Our schedule is already loaded solid with outstanding programs which are so excellent that they are BETTER than my own Blare OnAir program and I am LEFT OUT and given no air time!
Frankly, I think success is over-rated and could do with less of it.
How does your station handle success?
I started getting a plethora of Canadian listeners on the Internet who Donate
Due to the fact that we play a lot of Album Rock artists from Canada such as Max Webster, Kim Mitchell, Goddo, Fludd, Honeymoon Suite, Rush, Teenage Head ect it sparked a buzz from Canada.
Greg Godovitz of Goddo management (Formerly in the bands Fludd, Goddo, and now has his own solo project) noticed The Legacy playing Goddo - Bus Driver Blues and was totally impressed at our variety of Album Rock that we play and the fact that The Legacy does not snub Canadian artists made us a candidate for a huge contribution of $200 this is a very nice Chricemas present.
Other fans of Goddo were informed of our station and the dough started to roll in of $20 here, $50 there which helps keep our part 15 transmitter a float and allows us to try even better transmitters like the ASMAX 2 which has a 50 ogm output that will allow us to use a nice CB antenna with a loading coil system meant for AM broadcasting. We have a groundless antenna system that is within the 3 meter allotment but acts like a half beam and half vertical polarization and seems to work well with a few Hobby Broadcasters dead set on C-Quam.
Getting Ready for the DRM Digital AM Future
Broadcast Engineers who hang out on the C-Quam AM Stereo group are already successfully experimenting with Full Stereo on AM using the DReaM software without any degradation in part 15 range. So when these Radio's become more available The Legacy will have a part of the day that we will use DRM Digital as analogue AM is seeing its last dying days and the folks in the C-Quam AM Stereo group on Facebook alongside of ASPISYS is gearing up. The New ASMAX transmitter has a module you can buy that will make your station compatible for Digital AM broadcasting. I suggest you order yours and be ready for the digital future of AM.
Its the type of Music you play that makes your station get Donations. Album Rock is a niche and it is desired so much people will PAY FOR IT maybe Carl's classical music should get him donations too for there is not many stations doing that and a lot of educated people who have nice systems already will listen to you and pay to keep you on air.
Good Luck!!
