No, not an astronomy post, but the name of a new show on Artisan Radio. It will debut next Thursday, July 20, at 5PM (repeated the following Saturday and Sunday at 3PM). It will temporarily take the place of Surfin' the New Wave in that time slot, and make infrequent visits in the future.
The theme of this particular episode is LGBTQ anthems, which is timely, given the increased hatred and prejudice being shown towards that community. In contrast, the songs being presented are filled with hope, inspiration and joy. With a touch of defiance.
Some of the featured artists include Diana Ross, K.D. Lang, Kylie Minogue, Abba, Mika and many more.
Inspiration for this show came from attending a concert by Queer as Funk during Pride Month (June) here in British Columbia, Canada.
That is a socially positive show and yes, very timely in support of what should be an easy uncomplicated individual right. There is only one crucial thing about sex and gender, and that is the matter of reproduction of the species. People who want to raise children should be aided in having them, and those who choose not to be parents should be supported and respected in that choice. Otherwise, everything else is open as to style, fashion, dress, mannerism and frivolity. It's so simple. The prejudiced haters are the bugaboo in human society and should be rounded up and exiled to an island without ferry service, pardon the pun.
