I have not played too much with zara radio - I usually stick to either a linux solution or SAM2/3. However, in the spirit of experimenting; I gave Zara a shot.

Now, I have not really dug too deep, so this may be a simple thing.
I have 2 sound cards (yes, both are working.. hardware is not my issue). How do I send "AIR" output to one card, while using the other for live monitoring?
You can find the manual here:

In ZaraRadio version 1.4.4 you set the "air" and "monitor" outputs in the "Outputs" menu in the Options which is found in the Tools window.
So, click on "Tools", "Options" and "Outputs". You should find drop down boxes that list your hardware.
Version 1.6 is probably the same.
I just set up Zara for a friend's part 15 AM in another location this past Saturday. So I'm also just learning it.
He didn't really want any bells and whistles, which made things easier.
The weather watcher proved to be a bit much for his computer so we ended up taking that off.
But. overall, for free automation siftware, it sounded pretty good. I'm
going to consider using it for my new "Musicbox" station.

...you may need to run two instances of the windows mixer to control the two soundcards so far as where they take input from and give output to and levels and etc, depending on what version of windows you use, how you have it set up, and how you're trying to go about having your "air" and "monitor" work.

I tried ZaraRadio on my audio work station where I have a MOTU 2408 external soundcard. It has 8 analog I/O's along with a host of other digital I/O for ADAT and TDIF connections.
ZaraRadio allows me to select any of the 24 I/O connections plus the onboard PC soundcard for use as either Program output or Cue output. I used the onboard soundcard for cueing and one of the analog outs for the program.
Windows mixer controls the onboard soundcard and the MOTU uses a DSP mixer program to control the other 24 I/O's.
I like the ease of use for the Zara. However, wanting to add newscasts (via VOA) and being able to switch to long-form programming, well I have not had any success. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried doing it "by the book" with no luck.
I use it to totally automate my part 15 stations. Wget grabs the FSN news,Amber alerts and local NWS weather hourly and plays automatically. I had nothing but trouble with WeatherWatcher and dumped it,the NWS feed is actually better, albeit no live temperature. The scheduler allows a wide range of options and is really easy to use. The Zara forums are very helpful as the instructions are sometimes vague. Basically,I have been able to get it to do whatever I wanted and more,I am very impressed with it. I can run two instances and have two different feeds for AM/FM.
I am also happy running it on Win98SE online 24/7 with no issues, firewalled of course. AND the price is right!!!

Hi Robert
I to have been using Zara as well to completely automate my station. It took me some time to tweak everything but I run QNN news at the TOH 7am-6pm EST Mon-Fri along with the NOAA NWS local forecast from Pirate Weather at 5 mins past the TOH. I also use the TIme and Temperature feature of Zara as well, which allows me to speak the actual time at the TOH as well as tag the hourly weather forecast with the actual temeprature. Zara really is quite slick.
Feel free to give a listen at the TOH to sample what it all sounds like, at:
www.varietyam1640.com
and click the "On Air" button or "Winamp" button to listen to my live stream.
Don't give up on Zara just yet.
...are right on the money. I don't understand anyone having problems with Weather Watcher. Running it on an ancient IPAQ C-500 and XP, no less, with no problems.
Using a 60 gig drive, running this weird morning show and OTR the rest of the day...

First time I tried to set up Weather Watcher was a little confusing. First, you have to input a Zip code to tell it what city's weather you need. The setup simply referred to it as a city code.
You have to tell Weather Watcher where to put (export) the weather data file and you have to tell Zara Radio where to find it. I made a folder called "weather" C:Program FilesZarasoftZaraRadioweather. You could have Weather Watcher put it anywhere as long as you tell Zara Radio where it's at.
The file that Weather Watcher creates is called 44221.html for my city. Weather Watcher has a default html template for the weather data file which puts the data in a specific order that Zara can use.
I've not had any problem with it yet.

For those of you that have tried unsucessfully to access the Zara Radio program and help files located in "My Briefcase", I have recently found that AT&T must have changed the rules regarding public access to "My Briefcase" files.
For the time being the link to "My Briefcase" where the files are located takes you to a message which states the account owner (me) has not made public any files. This is not true but the files remain blocked.
I am trying to determine what has changed and as soon as possible will resolve this situation. In the meantime I would be happy to FTP or email the files to individuals requesting them.
Sorry for the inconvenience...
